Seven Hills Motorcars is proud to offer this 1978 Silver
Anniversary Edition Corvette in fantastic driver condition and
priced to sell with only 83,510 original miles. This Silver
Anniversary Edition looks fantastic, runs great, and is an
excellent driver. It is totally solid with great lines. The
Corvette is finished in the correct, beautiful, and highly
desirable color combination of RPO B27 Silver Anniversary Two Tone
Silver (13) and Dark Gray (07) over Red Leather (722). This is the
correct and original color combination verified by the codes on the
trim tag pictured in this ad. Please note that most Silver
Anniversary Edition Corvettes have Oyster interior. The Red
interior is much more rare, striking, and desirable.
This is an excellent opportunity to own a wonderful classic special
edition Corvette that is ready to be used and enjoyed at an
unbeatable value. One could easily buy this car now and sell it for
more than the purchase price in the years to come as the market on
C3 Corvette is hot right now and on the rise, this is especially
true for the Silver Anniversary Edition. The low original mileage
is supported not only by the condition of the car, but also the
clear Ohio title, pictured in this ad, showing the mileage as,
"Actual." Please peruse all of the photos, video, and information
to get a true sense of how nice this Corvette really is.
There is a large folder that comes with this car filled with dozens
of receipts, documents, and maintenance notes. The receipts for the
car total over $6,000 in work and maintenance performed over the
past few years. The previous owner told us that this Corvette has a
GM high performance ZZ4 crate engine. The engine has Vortec
cylinder heads and a 10243880 casting number, which corresponds to
a 4-bolt main 350ci ZZ4 crate engine. This is a more modern engine
that will be more reliable and much more powerful than the original
L48 V8.
This Silver Anniversary Corvette is absolutely loaded with highly
desirable original options such as the YJ8 aluminum wheels, air
conditioning, tilt/telescopic steering column, sport mirrors, power
windows, power locks, power antenna, and the 25th Anniversary paint
scheme.
Please note that all 1978 Corvettes wore the "25th Anniversary"
badge. However, only certain cars, such as this example, were the
actual Silver Anniversary Editions with the Silver Anniversary
regular production order (RPO), "B2Z." This is verified by the trim
tag that is pictured in this ad showing the paint to be 13 for the
bright Silver upper sections and 07 for the Dark Gray lower
section, which was only used in 1978 and only for the B2Z
Corvettes, on the darker lower portion.
As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle. We
hand pick each car after careful inspection. Our Corvettes come
from owners who expect their car to go to someone that will give
the vehicle the same care and attention as they did. We invite and
encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car
inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each picture. We
photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel
confident about your purchase. If you have a question about the
Corvette, just give us a call.
Model Description
Chevrolet marked Corvette's 25th Anniversary in 1978 with the most
extensive redesign of the car since the introduction of the C3 body
style in 1968. The new Corvette introduced a large fastback style
rear window that drastically increased luggage space in the rear
compartment behind the seats. The interior of the 1978 was also
significantly redesigned. The speedometer and tachometer were
redesigned in a more square and vertical mode. A glove box was
added on the passenger side to replace the pocket. The door panels
were also completely new and included screw on arm rests to replace
the molded style that been the standard since 1965. 1978 Corvettes
featured special 25th Anniversary emblems specific to that
year.
Exterior
The Two Tone Silver (13) and Charcoal (07) exterior is in great
driver condition. As one can see in the photos, the paint has a
terrific gloss and deep shine. Often Corvettes will have
particularly chipped up front ends, this car does not. Both doors
open and shut nicely. The original YJ8 aluminum wheels are in great
condition with a brilliant finish and no curb rash. The BF Goodrich
raised white letter tires have about 80% tread left. There are no
major scratches, scrapes, or other imperfections that have been
intentionally excluded from the photos. There are some small
blemishes that were too faint to show up in the photos, but noting
that is really noticeable from about five or ten feet away. This
Silver Anniversary Edition has absolutely NO RUST ISSUES car and as
one can see in the many photos of the underside it is very clean
underneath. The frame is totally solid with no rust around the "key
hole" area in front of the rear tire and there are no signs of
corrosion around the windshield, which are the two most notorious
areas for rust on a Corvette of this era.
Window Date Codes
Please note almost all of the glass on this Corvette, both door
windows and the even the windshield are original as each piece
predates the car's body build date of July 10, 1978 (K10). Original
glass is a good indication that this car has had no major accident
history and never sustained significant damage.
Interior
The Red Leather (722) interior in this Corvette is in excellent
original condition. The gauge faces are crisp and clean and the
lenses are clear. The seats look just in person as they do in the
photos with no excessive wear. Please note that these appear to be
the original seats and skins, not some cheap aftermarket cover or
replacements. The carpet is also in great condition with no stains
or holes. The door panels are in good shape overall. The door pulls
are solid and intact. The dash and console look nice with no cracks
or sun fading. The spare is still with the. This Corvette has never
been smoked in; there are no burns marks and no aroma of
cigarettes. Corvette interiors from this era are not known to wear
well and the excellent condition of this original interior is a
huge testament to the meticulous care and attention this car has
received throughout the years.
Mechanical
This Corvette seems to be in great mechanical condition and it is
ready to be enjoyed. As stated above, there are over $6,000 in
receipts along with dozens of maintenance documents and notes that
go with this Silver Anniversary so it has been well maintained over
the years. The modern 350ci crate engine starts right away every
time, runs well, and idles well. The crate engine is much more
powerful and performs much better than the original engine. The car
drives terrifically and is smooth on the road and at highway
speeds. In the video one can observe the car accelerating on the
highway up to about 70mph, braking to stoplight, going through some
curves, and shifting through all the gears. Please note that there
are no strange noises or vibrations and the car performs quite well
overall. There is no blue smoke when starting or driving the car.
The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other.
The transmission shifts smoothly throughout the power band. The
gauge shows that the engine makes great oil pressure. This Corvette
has plenty of power and is very fast. Also, the engine compartment
is beautifully clean and detailed as one can see ...for more
