Vehicle Description
With its restoration completed not long ago and featuring an ideal,
ultra-appealing color combo, this 1972 Ford Mustang Fastback is a
magnetic classic that holds the promise of many future fun filled
miles. It's ready for action just as soon as you get it home and
comes at an attainable price.
The high impact exterior was refurbished to factory specs just a
few years back, so it really presents well. The paint it wears is
reminiscent of the medium coral offering on the Ford color chart
the year this '72 came out, so you can sense a strong authenticity
when you give it a good once-over and, though it offers a very
pleasing shine in its present state, a thorough detailing session
would take things to an even higher level. The array of black decal
striping over the scooped hood and along the sides is in great
shape, showing a nice, deep black color and razor sharp edges, and
it - along with the black front air dam and rear spoiler -
contrasts nicely with such a bright backdrop. With the exception of
the front and rear bumpers, which appear to have been recently
replaced, the remainder of the exterior trim is likely original but
looks solid. The stance on this Pony is awesome: just a little
lower than stock with a subtle incline showcasing the dominant
fastback rear roofline.
Climb inside and you'll be surrounded by a sharp interior - it was
restored even more recently than the exterior and really looks the
part. The high-backed buckets sit between a contrasting black
center console and show no perceptible wear, and pretty much
everything that surrounds them is equally fresh, including the
headliner, dash pad and door panels. A compact aftermarket steering
wheel sits on the column, while just beyond it the dash is also in
great shape, harboring an assortment of clear and functional
factory gauges that are joined by a trio of factory counterparts
just below an AM/FM/CD stereo seamlessly installed in place of the
original. An aftermarket tach is now perched on the steering column
to monitor RPMs during more spirited driving. Because Mustangs of
this vintage featured fairly sizable cockpits, you'll find plenty
of room on hand for your backseat passengers and the bench seat
they'll ride on is in showroom condition. With no fabric lining the
floor of the trunk area, you can get a good view inside and see
that the floor and inner fenders are very solid.
Below that scooped hood you'll find a 302 cubic inch V8 resting
between the shock towers, wearing an aftermarket triangular air
cleaner over its Edelbrock 4-barrel carb and performance intake
manifold and looking nicely detailed. The entire contents of the
engine compartment received a thorough going-over not long ago and
everything is still very clean. The distributor, along with the
rest of the ignition system, was upgraded, so the powerplant
benefits from a nice, strong spark and pairs with a 3-speed
automatic C4 transmission that's shifting smoothly. The factory
power steering on this Mustang is also in good working order, so
this car is an easy navigator, and power brakes that feature discs
up front bring it to dependable, fade free stops. 15" Magnum
500-style wheels wrapped with BF Goodrich T/A radials add just the
right finishing touch. Below, the undercarriage appears to have
been thoroughly cleaned and treated during the restoration process
and is looking fresh and straight.
In great shape both inside and out and running in top form, this
1972 Ford Mustang Fastback is a definite "must see" for any classic
