Vehicle Description
Backing a 425 horsepower 396 with a tough 4-speed, a tweaked
suspension and decidedly sophisticated aesthetics, this charming
Chevelle is much more fun than some prissy trailer queen. And if
you're ready to pound some pavement and turn some heads, it's your
one way ticket to good times and great rides!
For starters, this Chevelle's killer presentation is every bit as
nice as it looks in photos. Someone spent a long time getting this
sinister hardtop laser-straight, and it's well beyond anything the
factory ever produced. Make no mistake, this is certainly one of
those classics where the builder was following a dream, not a
budget. Gaps are excellent, highlighting 2-stage that's both deep
and rich. Trim remains just as the General intended, with brilliant
chrome and highly polished stainless everywhere you'd expect it to
be. And era-correct Super Sport ornamentation is present and
accounted for because, let's face it, there's really no point in
trying to sneak around in a muscle car like this!
Toss the hood and you'll find a buff, 396 cubic inch Chevrolet big
block that creates a stout 425 horsepower. At the top of that tough
mill, a billet air cleaner dumps wind into a modern throttle body.
That box, sequenced to electronic fuel injection, sends fuel and
oxygen through a chromed Edelbrock Performer 2.0 intake. At the
back of that plane, a reliable points distributor sequences spark
between loomed MSD Super Conductor plug wires and a hot MSD Blaster
3 coil. Those wires snake around billet valve covers, which float
billet breathers opposite coated long-tube headers. At the front of
those tubes, pliable V-belts spin a polished water pump behind a
coated AC compressor and a polished Powermaster alternator. That
pump drains a polished Be Cool radiator, which shades chromed Be
Cool puller fans. And the body-matched engine bay is dotted with
high quality ancillaries, like a polished catch can, a polished
brake booster and FAST fuel components.
Under this Chevy, a trusty 700R4 4-speed, dressed in a polished TCI
pan, spins a proven 10-bolt axle. That drivetrain rolls in a
powder-coated suspension, which follows a beefy sway bar with
tubular control arms and trick RideTech Level II air ride. Turns
are provided by factory-style power steering. Power-assisted brakes
have been augmented with a pair of drilled and slotted rotors.
Stylish Boss Motorsports blades join 225/45ZR18 and 255/45ZR20
Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRs to absolutely stuff the wheel wells. And
you just can't help but notice the car's massive, 3-inch exhaust
system, which uses an X-shaped crossover and brash Flowmaster
mufflers to create a lot of excellent noise.
The Black bucket seat interior is largely stock, and that's a good
thing when it comes to early Chevelles. New soft-touch materials
were used throughout, and restoration-fresh carpet is protected by
Chevrolet-themed floor mats. Upgrades include a trio of Sunpro
auxiliary gauges, a modern Kenwood CD player and fingertip access
to the car's FAST fuel injection system. The driver commands the
road through a factory shifter and a chromed Super Sport steering
wheel. And modern air conditioning makes cool cruising a literal
concept.
Big block Chevelles have always been highly-sought cars, and this
rowdy resto-mod makes it easy to understand why. Call, click or
