Vehicle Description
Looking for a bona fide classic truck that you can get behind the
wheel of and enjoy right away? Check out this 1963 Chevrolet C10.
It's a rock-solid driver and has plenty going for it, including an
eye-catching exterior, a drivetrain that's clicking on all
figurative and literal cylinders and a nicely finished bed area.
It's standing by, ready for action and holds the promise of even
more awesomeness with just a little well-placed attention.
When introducing its C10 series, Chevrolet equipped its new line
with a more squared off, modern appearance that really sets it
apart from its predecessor, the 3100 series, while still retaining
plenty of vintage charm. In the process, they added a dropped
center frame to allow the cab to sit lower over the wheels while
also employing an independent front suspension to provide a much
more comfortable ride than any of Chevy's previous truck offerings.
The vibrant shade of red draped over this '63 really makes it come
alive, with its slick texture and sleek shine, and it blends well
with the nicely painted, white front grille and fresh chrome
bumpers both fore and aft. Move around to the side and you can see
the extensive contouring Chevy lavished upon its C10s. There are
some great visual details as the front end gives way to the cab
before transitioning into the relatively short, stepside back end -
and all of it really lines up well here.
The interior has been nicely reconfigured, with a pair of very
comfortable and well-padded, late-model cloth bucket seats now in
place that sit over an expanse of fresh, contrasting carpeting,
with the low profile manual shifter within easy reach. Take a look
around inside and you'll notice right away that the interior paint
is very well-applied - the red door panels are as smooth and shiny
as you could want and sport fresh hardware while the clean
contrasting dash area is also in good shape and retains its
original overall appearance. A little touching up of the steering
wheel, some attention to the speedometer - it's functional but
engages a little late - and the addition of a stereo system at the
center of the dash and this will be a very appealing vintage
driving environment. In back, the bed area has been redone with
dark wooden planks that sit between stainless steel reinforcements,
with a Lo Pro bed cover on board for protection.
Beneath that broad hood, the engine bay is in good order and really
will look sharp with a little detailing. At its center is a 305
cubic inch V8 that provides plenty of punch via the aluminum
Edelbrock Performer RPM intake manifold and 4-barrel carb it now
wears. The engine is running at the top of its game, pairing with a
smooth-shifting 4-speed manual transmission while sending a rich,
resonant note out through the aftermarket headers leading out to
its dual exhaust, and an HEI ignition has also been added to heat
up the available spark. Combine the coil suspension that's featured
in both front and back with the C10's relative low center of
gravity - optimized by a stance that's just right - and you have a
classic pickup with a surprisingly refined, car-like ride as it
cruises on its set of 15" steel wheels outfitted with Turbo-Tech
G/T radials. A peek below reveals a straight undercarriage that
appears solid, and is well positioned for plenty of future
miles.
