For Sale: 1970 Ford Torino in Alpharetta, Georgia

Vehicle Description

ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS, NUT AND BOLT, ROTISSERIE RESTORED, GRABBER GREEN, RARE 1970 FORD TORINO COBRA SPORTSROOF…MATCHING # 429 RAM AIR J-CODE, 370 HORSEPOWER…RARE MUSCLE CAR READY TO SHOW AND GO!!!

This gorgeous Grabber Green 1970 Ford Torino Cobra is 1 of 7675 produced and as you can see from the MARTI report started its life in North Carolina which is where I purchased the car. This matching # 429 beauty received a nut and bolt, rotisserie restoration in 2016 and has had very miles put on it since the extensive restoration. I have a great little photo album that shows the restoration work that was done but unfortunately no real paper trail of its history. I believe the car spent most, if not all its life in the South and as you will see, this car received a very meticulous, professional restoration to a level that will bring home plenty of trophies if desired but is also built to be driven and enjoyed. One turn of the key and you will want to drive this one to the shows and cruise-ins, not trailer it! I will do my best to provide you with enough large images, a video of the car running and an honest description to help you decide if this rare Ford Muscle car should be in your garage.

As you will see in the photo tour of the body below, the beautiful aerodynamic body lines of this '70 Torino Cobra really pop thanks to the show quality Grabber Green Color. This car was originally a pastel blue but during the restoration 3 years ago it was decided that it deserved a more eye-catching stock color and it is hard to argue with the Grabber Green they chose to go with. Body panels are laser straight and body panel gaps are fantastic. I do not see any evidence of body panel replacement or patches so if it is not all original sheet metal, it was done to a very high level. The photo book history that will be included with the car clearly show this car was done on a rotisserie and completely disassembled and stripped down to bare metal before the eye-popping Grabber Green Base/clear paint job was applied. I do not throw around the phrase “show quality” very often as everyones standards and expectations differ but I am very comfortable calling this paint job Show Quality! The Ram Air Shaker hood was treated to a gloss black treatment which really compliments the Grabber Green giving this car the muscle car look. All of the chrome, stainless trim and emblems were restored or replaced and look close to brand new. Overall the paint and body are truly near flawless and I did not even notice any rock chips but to be safe lets assume there may be a couple I missed. Glass and weather stripping all look great. The styling on this Sportsroof design is really unique and this Torino turns heads wherever it goes! This Torino will be welcome at all the shows and cruise-ins and has a trunk big enough to accumulate plenty of trophies if that is what you enjoy.

Complimenting the Grabber Green exterior is an equally impressive Black interior. Bucket seats were recovered in the correct black turin knit vinyl material just as it left the factory. Everything was completely restored including door panels, headliner, carpeting, dash and more. Overall the interior looks amazing with just a few minor blems I noticed on the drivers side door panel. Original steering wheel looks excellent as does the center console. Dash and gauges look great and everything appears to be working correctly although the Am/Fm radio is not currently working. You will be proud to show off the interior at the shows and cruise ins and you will ride nice and comfy on your way there. Plenty of room to put the kids or friends in the back seat.

This J-Code Torino has the iconic Cobra Jet emblemed shaker ram air unit poking through the hood letting you and everyone around this car know it can shake, rattle and roll!! Turn the Hood look downs and open the hood to reveal the original, matching # 429 Cobra Jet Big block that was pulled at the time of restoration and treated to a stock rebuild. The photo album clearly shows the numbers on the block that match and the motor build is very fresh. This 429 easily puts out the stock 370 horsepower and most likely is pushing more like 400hp. Unfortunately I do not have a paperwork trail on the rebuild other than then the photos which clearly show the extent of the rebuild. Smooth shifting C-6 Select Shfit Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission. Power is put down to the rear wheels with the stock 3.50 gears in the rear end making this a great cruiser as well as a lot of fun stoplight to stoplight. It feels like there is a about a 2500 stall converter in the transmission. Photos show what appears to be matching numbers or date code correct codes for the transmission and rear end. Power front disc brakes will stop this baby with ease. As you can see in the pics below the engine bay was highly detailed for show purposes. Headers run back and breathe through the great sounding dual exhaust that lets you know this baby can run! This Torino was originally equipped with power steering but it is currently manual steering. Suspension front and rear was all replaced with new at time of restoration and this muscle car handles the road beautifully. Riding on a like new set of Big Radial TA's mounted on period correct Magnum 500 wheels that look better than the original wheels and hub caps it left the factory with. This big block Cobra Jet sounds as good as it looks and you need to be sure to watch and listen to the video that follows to hear it running.

The undercarriage looks as good as the rest of the car with rock solid floorpans that were stripped to bare metal at the time of restoration and then painted in red oxide primer for a very clean factory look. All new fuel lines, brake lines etc at the time of restoration. The trunk also looks fantastic with correct trunk mat for a nicely detailed look.

As I have mentioned, this Torino Cobra Sportsroof is a matching # car that was rotisserie restored as you will see in some of the pictures of the photo album that will come with the car. The MARTI report is also pictured below. While the color was changed at the time of restoration this Cobra was restored to a very high level and is very factory correct as far as I can tell. This is a super fun, show and go rare muscle car that is sure to be a tremendous investment that can also be driven and enjoyed by its next lucky owner…maybe you?!!!
