Vehicle Description
1991 Mazda Miata
Inspired by classic British roadsters such as the MG, MGB, and
Triumph Spitfire, but engineered to be as reliable as a Toyota
Corolla, the original MX-5 Miata took the market by storm when it
debuted in 1989 for the 1990 model year. The Miata is a small
roadster from Mazda, its name is derived from the Old German word
miete meaning 'reward'. Miata is also an African name meaning
"first born" or "first lady" depending on what tribe you are
from.
A second-year roadster for consignment in excellent overall
condition. This Special Edition Miata is # 2,815 of 3,997 built,
all bathed in British Racing Green for the 1991 model year. This
one has plenty of upgrades to speak about, and ooooh and ahhh at,
so interested parties, hold tight and read on!
Exterior
British racing green in near showroom condition drapes this British
inspired sports car. A new black Robbins Canvas convertible top
with a glass rear window has been installed replacing the original
top. MM Marketing mud guards, a whip antenna, Cibie H-4 Headlights,
and an OEM front air dam can be seen when looking at this
racer.
Interior
An almost perfect tan vinyl interior has been blinged out with VDO
oil temp, and voltmeter gauges, a Kenwood CD/Radio with remote
drives Clearwater door speakers, so even if you have the top down,
and you are driving beside a truck going 70MPH, you will still have
to lower the volume to hear the truck! Seen behind the buckets is
an added Hard-Dog deuce side braced roll bar wrapped in custom
formed leather padding. A Nardi wood shifter and handbrake fit
snugly between the buckets. Consigner states that the A/C has
undergone a conversion.
Drivetrain
A 1.6 Liter 4-cylinder twin cam engine is attached to a 5-speed
manual transmission, and all run very smoothly. Seen is an oil
filter relocation for ease of changing.
Undercarriage
As if the upside was not enough, now this side can bring stars to
your eyes...LISTEN UP! A flying Miata frame rail reinforcement kit,
holds Tokico Illumina shocks and springs. Racing Beat front lower
control arm braces, and sway bar brace have been bolted on. A
Flying Miata shock tower brace is noted too and Flying Miata rear
shock mounts with bump stops, and lest I forget, FM sway bars.
Whoah!
As the ad slogan goes ZOOM! ZOOM! ZOOM!, and this car was built
before the writer of that campaign was born. Stated by one of our
learned and well-heeled car guys here at Classic Auto Mall, "This
is by far the cleanest and nicest Miata I've seen from this era."
All I'll say is seeing is believing at just a tick over 35,800
original miles, I defy you to find even dust on the dash. Although
there was plenty of rubber left on our lot.
