Vehicle Description
2003 Saab 9-3 Convertible
Like any car owners, Saab drivers use the car as a status symbol.
In the same price echelon as offerings from car companies like BWM,
Mercedes, Audi and Volvo, the Saab falls under the luxury car
umbrella. Saab has an under the radar status. Tom Barnicoat former
CEO of Endecol and Saab enthusiast called it the anti-brand brand.
It doesn't have the same flash as a Benz or Beamer - hip-hop stars
aren't rapping about it. It's the type of car that proclaims status
to those in the know, without excess.
For consignment a two-owner convertible 9-3 model. This car shows
areas of some wear, but mechanically is well maintained, and
consigner states has awesome power. Some new parts (ie front seats,
and convertible top) have car presenting in overall fair to good
condition.
Exterior
Hazelnut Metallic paint covers all the heavy steel panels known to
the Saab brand. Some areas of fading, and staining (especially on
the hood) are noted, and underlying rust is pushing the paint off
at the belt line crease behind the passenger door. The sport
package has been added which features the metallic paint, an
aerodynamic body kit, 17" wheels, and a rear spoiler. As noted, a
new convertible top, fully insulated with rear defogger inside, has
been installed and works flawlessly. A noted Saab front headlight
wiper system is seen.
Interior
Newer replacement custom driver and front passenger bucket tan
leather seats which are heated, and feature various power
adjustments with memory buttons, are installed. Fronting these
buckets is a leather wrapped steering wheel, and instrumentation is
imbedded in a carbon fiber dash plate in front of the telescoping
steering wheel. Cruise control, CFC free Air Conditioning, climate
control, power windows, power and heated rear view mirrors, and
tinted glass are just a few of the options noted. The rear seat
will fold down allowing access to the trunk space and adds
significant cargo area if needed.
Drivetrain
A 2.0 Liter, 16V High Output turbocharged 4-cylinder engine sits in
the original and unrestored but clean engine bay. This engine
produces 205hp and pushes power to a 4-speed automatic
transmission.
Undercarriage
Showing typical wear for a 2003 100,000+ mile car some surface
rust, is present but unremarkable. Power rack and pinion steering
and 4-wheel ABS brakes, and an overall well-maintained solid
car.
When the first owner of this car out grew it due to having an
expanding family, our current consigner seized the moment and
purchased it for his wife. Both have enjoyed this car immensely and
are in awe of its turbo power. Some paint issues, a bit of wear on
the passenger door interior handle, but overall a nice example of
the safe reputation Saab.
