the history of the BMW marque, there is no more venerated, more
legendary, more mythic nomenclature than Alpina. For more than 50
years now, the tuning House of Alpina has crafted--with BMW's
approval and cooperation--rare and remarkable versions of more
widely available BMW models. Alpina automobiles have always been
distinguished by performance upgrades and options not available on
lesser BMWs. The 2012 B7 (long-wheelbase) offered here in black
sapphire metallic paint over exclusive black Nappa leather, is a
perfect example of the Alpina ethic: remarkable performance and
truly exclusive style. When new, the car's naturally aspirated
4.4-liter V8 engine delivered 500 horsepower at 5,000 rpm, and 516
pound-feet of torque at 3000 rpm, through a 6-speed automatic
transmission. ABS and traction-control were standard. Other
standard features included separately controlled front and rear
air-conditioning, 21-inch Alpina-brand silver-aluminum wheels,
navigation system, parking assist, Sirius satellite radio, heated
outside mirrors, remote keyless entry and more. The options list
(shown in the photo gallery) for this car is the longest such
document we've ever seen for a BMW. It shows, among many other
options: soft-close-automatic doors, glass sunroof,
climate-controlled seats front and rear, fine-grain ash wood
inlays, leather-covered instrument panel with ceramic appliques on
the controls, rear-compartment entertainment system, Alcantara
headliner, and, of course, the Alpina package. This B7 has
accumulated just under 62,000 documented miles from only two
private owners. Its service- history shows regular maintenance at
appropriate intervals, and is complete and up-to-date. The car's
only CarFax issue occurred less than six months after delivery, and
involved front-end damage (without airbag deployment) when the car
struck an object. Repairs were promptly completed by Sterling BMW
in Laguna Beach, California. The next owner of this automobile will
enjoy a state-of-the-art, über-luxury, autobahn-cruising executive
sedan in stunning condition. The added élan and exclusivity of its
tasteful Alpina branding will speak with authority to every BMW
lover. It's hard to imagine this B7 will ever go out of style. Be
