Few cars are released and immediately become evocative of their era. Like the Stingray Corvette or Jaguar E-type have become symbols of the 1960's, it is hard to imagine the 1980's without the Ferrari Testarossa. While the vehicle was fundamentally a development of the Berlinetta Boxer released in the 1970s, in many ways the new Testarossa was a departure from more traditional Ferraris. Its dramatic figure, led by design chief Leonardo Fioravanti of Pininfarina, combined both form and function credited to his in-depth knowledge of aerodynamics. The side strakes, which have become the most distinctive feature of the vehicle, are a prime example of Fioravanti's influence, as the side mounted radiators provided more efficient cooling to the large 4.9-liter flat-12. As the flagship Ferrari of its day, the performance on offer was truly impressive. A commendable 385 horsepower propelled the supercar to 60 mph in just 5.3 seconds and to a top speed of 180mph. Thanks to the low center of gravity and prime weight distribution afforded by its midship flat-12, handling was equally remarkable.

This particular Testarossa is a Japanese market car and was originally sold by Cornes Shiba, a Ferrari dealer in Tokyo. The previous owner was a member of the Ferrari club of Japan and took great pride and care for the Testarossa. This vehicle comes with original manuals in English and Japanese plus many service documents in the Jaia book, which records vehicle service history in Japan. Milage is 56,8XX KMs (35,3XX miles) and according to the Jaia book, had a full engine-out service at 43,XXXKM in 2010. The car is currently lowered, with stock springs included in purchase, and sits on forged Work wheels from Rays of Japan. The exhaust is reported to be a Fuchs system and sounds wonderful, almost rowdy! The A/C system will need a recharge but opperates smoothly as-is, and all other features of the car function perfectly.

This Testarossa has a clean Texas title so if you are looking for a reasonably priced iconic supercar to drive and enjoy, this is it. Send an email to info@viccicarauctions if you'd like any more info on this spectacular car!
