Vehicle Description
Growing up in the late seventies in Las Vegas, I always admired the
big luxury cars the high roller showed off when dropping them off
for valet parking at the Dunes, Sahara or Caesar's Palace. The 1978
Lincoln Continental Mark V was the longest two door coupe ever sold
by Ford Motor Company at 230 inches. This example is equipped with
the 460 cubic inch big block (7.5L), 4 barrel carburetor, dual
exhaust, and C6 automatic transmission. Inside it boasts a plush
red velour interior, AM/FM 8-track stereophonic sound system,
Cartier trim package and electric everything! It has the carriage
roof option, designed to look like a convertible and the optional
turbine style wheels in place of hubcaps. Driving is super smooth,
and even with the detuning common in the 70's seems to have plenty
of power. My wife says I have a Craigslist problem, but it's really
more of a mission to save cool old American cars from rotting away,
and get them back on the road. I was told by the previous owner
that this Mark V sat for about 4 years on the street in front of
his house, he had no idea how to fix it for himself. I got this one
running pretty well within about an hour, and if I didn't have so
many other projects I would definitely keep this and do a little
hot rodding to the engine just to surprise the unsuspecting tuner
at the stop light in town. It could still use some TLC, but overall
is a very good car
