For Sale: 1965 Chevrolet Corvette in Sonoma, California

Vehicle Description

1965 Chevrolet C2 Corvette Stingray, 300HP, Powerglide

California Numbers Matching Car, Same Owner 45 Years

Very tidy 1965 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Coupe for sale. This special California C2 was purchased by its current owner 45 years ago from its original family in Anaheim, California when it was only 9 years old.

Equipped with the original numbers matching 327ci 300HP engine, Powerglide transmission, power windows, tinted glass, AM/FM radio, and telescopic steering column. It has been used lightly yet regularly over the decades as one of his two Corvettes. Always garaged, maintained and cared for.

Because he already owned a silver convertible C2 at the time, the exterior was stripped then color changed from silver to red in 1978 then put in storage for 10 years. He didn't like how the wash mit always got caught on the badging so he left them off when repainting. They come with the car and should be easy enough to reinstall should its new owner prefer them. In 1988 he had time to get back to work on it, went through the mechanicals and began to enjoy.

In around 2007 the engine was rebuilt and odometer reset accordingly and now has 15,996 miles on it. The car starts; runs and drives beautifully with no mechanical issues. It has strong oil pressure, plenty of power and starts easily. It has the original Carter AFB 4bbl carburetor. The Powerglide transmission functions as it should and shifts smoothly. The suspension is nice and tight and the car handles well. It wears a set of original-style bias-ply whitewall tires on its rare spin-off wheels.

The interior still shows well after all the years with a tidy appearance, good carpets, panels, and headliner. All of the gauges are in working order except the clock. The radio was bypassed years ago to facilitate an aftermarket setup in the glovebox. At the time of inspection, the wipers were not turning on. The owner states the original miles on the car are around 78,000. As noted above, he reset the odometer when the engine was rebuilt to better keep track of servicing.

There is much history and documentation with the car, and many great stories after its pampered life with our friend, Ralf. His hope is that we find this special family member a new family that will love it as much as Ralf does.
