Vehicle Description
When it comes to legendary muscle cars, the folklore of the
incredible Plymouth 'Cuda is simply undeniable. In many ways,
Plymouth's popular intermediate offering used its massive Hemi
power to define an era. But even in that lexicon of performance
there were tiers of nobility. Naturally, Hemi cars were desirable.
Convertibles brought automatic exclusivity. And when anyone
combined a Hemi with convertible, they got something very
special!
A LEGACY OF STRENGTH
Because of its aggressive yet tailored aesthetics, and the fact
that Plymouth only produced 11 Hemi-powered convertibles, 1971 has
become the most desirable year of 'Cuda. Over the decades, Hemi
convertibles have sailed through auctions bringing massive prices.
Prior to the Great Recession, one of the 11 drop-tops was predicted
to bring $5 million, and after the Great Recession, the only
numbers-matching example known to exist actually did cross the
block for an easy $3.5 million.
HEMI IN ALL THE RIGHT PLACES
While virtually any 'Cuda convertible is a great investment, a
million dollar investment isn't exactly something most people can
drive with a clear conscience. That's where classics like this
awesome Hemi tribute come in. Spending many of its most recent
years in an 80-car collection, this Plymouth has been ground-up
restored into a highly accurate recreation of one of the most
desirable MoPars of all-time. Under the car's familiar Shaker Hood,
426 cubic inches of storied elephant motor makes excellent use of
dual-quad induction and hot MSD ignition. That engine funnels power
through a tough A833 4-speed, which is sequenced to a Dana 60 axle
that's finished with a posi-traction differential and fun, 3.54
gears. A welcome adherence to the authenticity of documented Hemi
cars, that Dana pushes a correct Hemi Suspension that's spec-ed
with factory power steering, power front disc and rear drum brakes,
requisite torque boxes and staggered leaf springs.
IT'S GOT THE LOOK TO GET LOOKS
Why buy a choice muscle car if it doesn't look like a choice muscle
car, right? Originally Rallye Red, and presently sporting what a
previous owner describes as Deep Red pigment, this 'Cuda is
restored to excite! A power convertible top caps glossy 2-stage
that's sprayed over restored sheetmetal and a correct Black and
White interior. That inviting cockpit is centered on high-back
seats that feel like a great place to see the sights. Optional
woodgrain trim dresses things up a bit, while detailed Rallye
Gauges keep an eye on essentials. Within arm's reach is a modern
Dual CD player that kicks three factory speakers and two
aftermarket speakers. And the driver feels the road through a
woodgrain steering wheel and a cool Hurst Pistol Grip shifter.
Buying the muscle car of your dreams is fun, unless the market
dictates that you park it in a garage and never touch it. In this
Hemi-powered 'Cuda, you can experience some of Detroit's best metal
the way it was intended to be enjoyed: top down, tires rolling and
V8 roaring! Call your friends at RK Motors for more
