Wow, this one hot looking shortbed! The greatness doesn't stop
there, its loaded too. The Highlander was a limited edition that
even most truck aficionados are not aware of. Basically it was a
deluxe package of options and upper scale trim.
This truck has it's original option sticker on the glovebox
door.
EXTERIOR: It is an eye catcher, the bright orange and white two
tone with all the deluxe trim. Also has brand new 20 inch chrome
wheels with performance tires. It was sold new in Nashville, we
bought it out of North Carolina. It is a good clean southern body.
The paint job is new this year, has a very glossy, straight finish.
All of the trim has been replaced. In front the grill, chrome
bumper and emblems are new. The moldings down the sides, antenna,
wiper arms, mirrors, handles are new. In back it has new chrome
bumper, taillight and tailgate trim. Inside the bed is not beat up
at all. It's real clean and straight metal, they must have used it
for hauling pillows! It's painted glossy orange. New windshield and
vent window glass. All new rubber gaskets and weatherstrips. Door
jambs are slick, new shiny sill plates.
INTERIOR: Completely restored inside. Has the same two tone as the
outside. The metal has been painted glossy orange. Very cool
looking vintage orange plaid seat inserts. The restorer said he
paid a lot for that. New upholstery, door panels, armrests,
handles, window cranks, visors, carpet, dash pad etc. Dash area
looks great. New chrome instrument bezel, new heater control unit,
new chrome a/c vents. It has a factory tilt column with new deluxe
wheel. Inside the glovebox has new liner and original option
sticker.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: The motor is a 396-350 hp from a 68 Chevelle
SS. It was apart and gone through less then 100 miles ago. I open
the hood and was immediately impressed, show quality. Very freshly
restored. The inner fenders, core support and bottom of the hood
are perfectly smooth clean metal painted satin black. The jambs and
firewall are painted gloss orange. All the components look new. The
air conditioning system has a lot new parts and is upgraded to
R134a freon. The alternator and new fuel pump is new. Has a new
upgraded aluminum intake and Holley carb. Dressed up with new stock
chrome air cleaner and valve covers. Radiator, fan, shroud and
hoses look new. It features power steering and brakes.
UNDERSIDE: The underside is very clean and solid. I dont see any
patches. It's been cleaned and painted. The front end was just
completely rebuilt. Bottom of the motor still looks fresh, has new
motor mounts. The Turbo 400 automatic was just completely rebuilt.
A set of headers feed a new dual Flowmaster exhaust system with
stainless tips. There are new shocks all around, new rear springs.
New panhard bar. It has also been upgraded with new disc brakes at
all four wheels.
This is a head turner. Has the desirable features people want in a
truck- shortbed, deluxe trim, a/c, power steering and brakes.
Having a big block and great colors certainly makes it even
better!
