Building on the success of its 3500 GT and Sebring models, Maserati
commissioned Pietro Frua to create a new design that would be
placed on an updated Tipo 109 chassis. Dubbed the Mistral, this new
two-seat coup� was named after the strong winds blowing from the
Mediterranean coast in the South of France. The model's success was
instant and thanks to a steady flow of orders, the Mistral remained
in production until 1970. Over the course of production, both
Mistral coup�s and spiders were built with a few different engine
options. Only 383 coup�s were built with the 3.7-litre engine, and
the example presented here is one such example.
Offered here is one of the earlier-model cars, with the increased
engine displacement of 3.7 litres. Delivered in October 1965 to its
first owner in Chiasso, on the Swiss/Italian border, AM109 528 was
born with the desirable manual gearbox and was originally finished
in Grigio New Market over Black leather. This would be a lovely
example to drive and enjoy for someone looking for the
quintessential charm that only an Italian automobile of this era
can exude.

Aufbauend auf dem Erfolg der Modelle 3500 GT und Sebring, hatte
Maserati Pietro Frua beauftragt, ein neues Design auf dem Chassis
des Tipo 109 zu entwerfen. Das zweisitzige Coup� wurde nach den
starken Mistralwinden an der Mittelmeerk�ste im S�den Frankreichs
Mistral genannt. Das Coup� war ein umgehender Erfolg und blieb dank
hoher Nachfrage bis 1970 im Programm. Im Laufe der Produktion
wurden Coup�s und offene Spider mit ein paar unterschiedlichen
Antrieben angeboten.
Nur 383 Coup�s entstanden mit dem 3,7-Liter Motor, von denen dies
hier eines der fr�heren Fahrzeuge ist. Es wurde im Oktober 1965 an
seinen ersten Besitzer im Chiasso im schweizerisch-italienischen
Grenzgebiet ausgeliefert. AM109 528 wurde mit dem gesuchten
Handschaltgetriebe gebaut und trug original die Farbkombination
Grigio New Market mit schwarzem Leder. Ein wundersch�nes Exemplar
zum Fahren und Genie�en f�r jemanden, der sich dem Charme nicht
verschlie�en kann, den nur ein italienisches Automobil dieser �ra
verspr�hen kann.
