the most powerful and smooth 4.6L (280.7 cu in; 295hp with 290
ft-lbs) GM Northstar L37 DOHC V8 engine coupled with a 4T80-E 4
speed automatictransmission. This last and most popular year (with
only 4,555 sold in USA) the Allante was far more powerful and
reliable than other years with merely 200hp and not bulletproof
Northstar motor. The 1993 Allante was chosen as the 1992 pace car
for the 76th Indy 500 driven by Bobby Unser. Also introduced with
the Allante in 93 was road sensing suspension, and active damper
management system and revised disc brakes. The Allante included a
revised variable-assist power steering rack and deeper front
spoiler. Body designed by Pininfarina (like Ferrari, Maserati, Alfa
Romeo) in Italy, this classic Cadillac is truly a Sports Roadster
with a top ungoverned speed of 157 mph. The sheet metal was
sculpted in Europe, flown over and assembled in the USA. "The
Allante Airbridge" included 3 flights per week to transport 56 car
bodies per flight from Turin, Italy to Michigan. It is no surprise
that the MSRP in 1993 was $59,975 and designed to compete with
Mercedes SL Roadster and Jaguar XJS. Hemmings Motor News wrote in
