The arrival of the BTR marked the beginning of RUF as a
manufacturer in its own right, establishing itself as the most
highly regarded of Porsche tuning firms. The BTR was inspired by
the FIA Group B regulations of the time, using a 930 Turbo as a
basis with which to produce a sportscar that was then successfully
tested by journalists against the fastest products of Ferrari,
Lamborghini and Porsche. The BTR was regularly regarded as the
fastest accelerating road car at the time, performance that was
only beaten when RUF produced the legendary CTR 'Yellowbird'.
The BTR utilised a Turbo engine bored to 3.4 litres and then fitted
with Mahle pistons, 935-type camshafts and a larger KKK turbo;
these modifications resulted in a power output of 374 bhp. Various
other modifications to the car included RUF suspension, a half-roll
cage, RUF brakes and a RUF five-speed gearbox.
Only three BTR Flatnoses are believed to have been produced by RUF,
this example being one of 948 930 Turbo Flatnoses manufactured by
Porsche and then converted in period by RUF, resulting in a car
which evokes memories of the legendary 935. Delivered new to the
Netherlands before being imported to the UK in 1989, this RUF was
owned by one collector for 17 years and is presented today in
excellent condition with updates including 996 GT3 Clubsport seats,
RUF 4-point harnesses and a RUF steering wheel. Currently showing
just over 42,800 km from new, this RUF has a comprehensive service
history and has been subject to a full inspection at RUF at
Pfaffenhausen in 2017.
An extraordinarily rare opportunity to own a BTR 'Flachbau', this
RUF would sit very well in any Porsche or RUF collection,
especially for a collector wishing to stand out from the crowd.

Mit dem Bau des BTR begann die Unternehmensgeschichte der
angesehenen Tuningfirma RUF als eigener Automobilhersteller. Als
Inspiration f�r die Entstehung des BTR auf Porsche 930 Turbo-Basis
kam von den neuen Vorschriften der FIA Gruppe B. Das Ergebnis wurde
von Fachjournalisten aus der ganzen Welt gegen die h�rteste
Konkurrenz von Ferrari, Lamborghini und auch Porsche getestet. Der
BTR wurde dabei �berwiegend als das am schnellsten beschleunigende
Serienfahrzeug seiner Zeit angesehen - eine Auszeichnung, die der
BTR erst an den legend�ren RUF CTR �Yellow Bird" verlor.
Im Heck des BTR fand sich ein auf 3,4 Liter aufgebohrter
Turbo-Motor, dem mit Hilfe von Mahle-Kolben, Nockenwellen wie im
935 und einem gr��eren Turbo von KKK eine Leistung von 380 PS
entlockt wurde. Weitere �nderungen waren ein RUF Fahrwerk, ein
halber �berrollk�fig, sowie Bremsen und ein F�nfganggetriebe
ebenfalls von RUF.
Es wird davon ausgegangen, dass von 948 bei Porsche gebauten 930
Turbo Flachbauversionen nur drei bei RUF selbst zum Flachbau-BTR
umgebaut wurden. Das Ergebnis erinnert in seiner Optik an den
legend�ren 935. Dieser Wagen wurde neu in die Niederlande
ausgeliefert, bevor er 1989 nach Gro�britannien ging, wo er 17
Jahre einem Sammler geh�rte. Heute pr�sentiert er sich in
exzellentem Zustand mit Sitzen aus dem 996 GT3 Clubsport,
4-Punktgurten von RUF und einem RUF Lenkrad. Die angezeigte
Laufleistung betr�gt 42.800 km, die Servicehistorie ist
umfangreich. 2017 wurde bei RUF in Pfaffenhausen ein kompletter
Service durchgef�hrt.
Dieser RUF ist eine au�ergew�hnlich seltene Gelegenheit, einen
originalen Flachbau-BTR zu erwerben. Er w�rde sich in jeder
Sammlung von Porsche oder von RUF Fahrzeugen sehr gut machen wie
auch bei einem Sammler, der sich von der Masse abheben m�chte. To
