Vehicle Description
Ladies and gentlemen, hold onto your hats! What we have here is
what is certainly one of the nicest and well-built early Beetles
available on the market. Originally developed and introduced in the
late 1930s, the Volkswagen Beetle is one of the most popular and
longest produced vehicles of all time. Though they aren't for
everyone, most find themselves smiling when they spot a classic
Beetle! There's just something about this little cars that tends to
evoke happy feelings. In 1953, the split rear window design had
been abandoned in favor of the oval rear window design seen here on
this 1956. Believe it or not, the Beetle remained so popular over
the years that it was in production until 2003! Though it had seen
many design and mechanical changes over the years, the final
Beetles stuck to the original concept and retained many original
elements.
This 1956 ragtop oval window Beetle has been fully and completely
restored back to factory original specifications. The exterior is
immaculate, and the red/black two-tone really does a lot for this
car. According to the owner, nearly $20,000 was spent on the paint
job a lone...which really speaks to the quality of the paint! In
our showroom, hardly a day goes by that someone doesn't comment on
how beautiful and nicely done this Beetle is. This is a
show-quality vehicle that is destined to be the centerpiece of any
serious VW collection! A new ragtop has been installed, and
functions just the way it should. Aside from the high-quality paint
job, you'll find that every exterior component has been repaired or
replaced to as-new or better condition. If it was available New Old
Stock (NOS) at the time of the restoration, it was purchased and
installed on this car. Even NOS Dunlop tires have been
installed!
If you think the exterior of this Beetle is a work of art, wait
until you see the interior! Finished in a gorgeous red, you'd think
you were sitting in a 1950s VW brochure-that's how clean and
correct this interior is. With less than 50 miles covered since the
restoration, it is no wonder that the interior looks as if it has
never been sat in. Every little detail has been addressed, and all
of the parts look brand new-this is not a restoration where old
parts were simply cleaned up and reinstalled. As with the exterior,
any NOS parts that were available were installed rather than cheap
reproductions. Being behind the wheel of this car is a dream, and
it has been a long time since we saw a vehicle that screamed "time
machine" like this one does.
Under the hood is a correct VW 1200cc engine. As can be expected
from a car restored to this high degree of quality, it fires right
up and runs as well as a Beetle can! The engine and engine bay
continue the factory-correct theme with original parts and
appearance. The engine is so clean you could almost fool yourself
into thinking you were in a 1950s VW dealership looking at it! All
correct parts and stickers appear to have been installed, and it
continues to be apparent that not one corner was cut in this
restoration.
As a whole, we firmly believe that this is one of the nicest oval
window Beetle ragtops available for sale. This is a no expenses
spared restoration, done up just the way the car should be. Any
discerning buyer would be hard pressed to find another Beetle of
this quality and with this many original attribues painstakenly
sought out and installed. If you're looking for the star car for
your VW collection, this may just been the Beetle you need!
