Vehicle Description
This 1965 Austin Healey Mark III BJ8, in Irish Mist Green with
Parchment leather interior, is powered by a 3.0-liter 6-cylinder
engine with a Mallory distributor, oversized radiator and cooling
fan upgrades, coupled to a Toyota 5-speed manual transmission. It
underwent a professional ground-up restoration in 2014 by renowned
Healey specialist Knut Holzer of Philadelphia, PA, totaling
$82,000, and has been driven 1,400 miles since. Restoration
highlights include sandblasted tub and suspension, rebuilt
electrical system, new wiring harness, rebuilt line bored and
balanced unleaded-fuel-safe engine and carburetors, resealed rear
end, rebuilt suspension with new and rebuilt hydraulics, new and
rebuilt brakes, new fuel system, new stainless-steel performance
exhaust, and a new Parchment leather interior with green piping and
new carpeting, new mohair top and boot, and a Moto-Lita steering
wheel. The original transmission was rebuilt and is included. The
car was stripped to bare metal and all metal panels were acid
washed before the base coat/clear coat paint was applied to the
exterior, interior, underside, wheel wells and engine bay. Heat
insulation was also installed. It wears re-dipped or new
aftermarket chrome, original door glass, new windshield, new rubber
seals, new interior trunk trim, new 72-spoke wheels, driving lamps
and badge bar. This multiple award winner is documented by the
British Motor Industry Heritage Trust.
