Vehicle Description
There is little doubt what this truck is all about. Chevy provided
a great starting point when they designed these third-gen trucks
with the new high strength carbon steel ladder frame. Then this one
takes it to the next level, literally, with Rough Country
suspension and steering gear. This is one seriously capable, and
seriously good-looking Silverado. Check it out.
GM tried to label this gen truck as the "rounded line" series
because they smoothed out the edges a bit. They definitely created
a great looking truck, but the public and the press decided to call
it the "box body" design. This one has been repainted in a nice
two-tone of Red and Tan with a pinstripe running along the top edge
from one side, around the back to the other, with chrome molding
defining the bottom. Up front and eggcrate grill is flanked by quad
headlights and underlined by a sharp looking chrome bumper. The
back bumper is chrome diamond plate with a brushed metal insert and
Chevrolet in script. Drop that tailgate and you will find that the
bed has a fresh new bed liner courtesy of Line-X. The heavy duty
6-lug alloy wheels and Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ tires definitely
help define the look and let you know that this truck means
business.
Open the door and you will find a nice Red Silverado interior that
will sport you around town in style and cradle you in comfort no
matter where you are. The molded door panel is simple with a big
armrest and door pull. There are power window and lock switches at
your fingertips as well as a handy door pocket for stashing things
like cell phones. The bench seat is covered in cloth with plenty of
room to comfortably bring a couple full time friends on adventures
with you. The Silverado trim level gets you a well-equipped
interior with things like a tilt wheel and cruise control as well
as the shifter for the automatic transmission on the column. Behind
it is a stock dashboard with easy to read engine gauges on the left
and the speedo and fuel gauge on the right. Ventilation controls
include those for air conditioning and there is an AM/FM/iPod
compatible stereo for your listening pleasure. A full headliner and
a sliding glass window finish out this sharp looking interior.
Pop the hood and you will find a tried and true 350 cubic inch V8
sitting down in the engine bay. It is completely stock except for
the free flow air filter assembly letting lots of fresh air in, and
Flowmaster mufflers sounding good as they get the exhaust out.
There are signs of regular maintenance with the belts, hoses and
ignition components in good shape and the power flows back through
a 4-speed automatic transmission and 4-wheel drive transfer case to
solid axles both front and rear. Multi-leaf springs are outfitted
with a bit of lift, and Rough Country suspension components take
over from there. Heavy duty shocks with boots to protect them from
dirt and mud provide great off-road control and steering components
include a heavy-duty damper. Power front disc brakes provide good
stopping power and the rubber meets the road, or the dirt and mud,
through that fresh set of 315/75R16 Mickey Thompsons.
There is little doubt what this truck is all about, and it ain't
the hokie-pokie. Come on down and check out this killer off road
Silverado. Then take it home with you and head out to find some
adventure with it.
