Vehicle Description
Sharp, beautiful, loaded, and absolutely elegant, this 1955 Buick
Roadmaster Riviera is an exceptionally correct presentation of
'50s-style premium motoring.
There was a lot of care and investment in this coupe during its
restoration to make sure this is an elegant presentation of black,
white, and chrome. And we understand exactly why. This was the
range-topping hardtop in '55 with a price approaching Cadillac
levels. That's why this Roadmaster has such a premium look. The
dipping trim in the profile makes for the ideal dividing line for
the black and white, and the special Riviera hardtop adds more of
the premium contrast while also showing off the classic pillarless
style. And speaking of style, the Roadmaster had one of the best
front ends of the era where the chrome bumper has a large and
intricate presentation that incorporates the grille - so you really
know the designers dictated the form of this coupe. And out back
the jet-inspired tailfins flow into the form-fitting chrome bumper.
You see this all so well because there was ton invested in the
brightwork. You'll even love the details, like the wire wheels,
whitewall tires, and the gold lettering and hood ornament package
that was another reminder that this is the best from Buick.
Inside, the full black and white theme continues to give the whole
car the premium appeal of a crisp tuxedo. And it's easy to show
everyone this well-coordinated package inside and out with the rare
power window option that allows you to take down all the glass
without ever leaving the driver's seat. Just like the exterior,
this is a highly correct presentation, right down to the texture on
the seats. The dash is a work of automotive art as it flows
seamlessly into the doors. The machine-turned trim nicely frames
the auxiliary gauges, the steering wheel has the Buick crest in the
center, and the sliders for the heat/defrost look like they were
borrowed directly from a jet aircraft. So this is true 1950s cool.
And the time capsule-like presentation of the interior goes right
down to the details, like the AM radio that's still cranking out
tunes.
Lift the hood and it feels like 1955 all over again. Rarely do you
see classic cars with such great details like the oil bath air
cleaner, generator, decals on the valve covers, and glass bottle
windshield fluid. And this is all set against an exceptionally
crisp presentation of the whole engine bay - right down to the
light blue motor radiating from within the darkness. Buick's 322
cubic-inch "Nailhead" V8 was a terrific powerplant from the era,
and this one is shows all the signs of being original to the car.
On a premium Roadmaster, it's topped with a four-barrel carburetor
to deliver the kind of power and torque to keep you driving in
style. There's also power steering and power brakes. Plus, Buick's
Dynaflow automatic transmission offers a smooth operation, and so
this feels terrific going down the road.
A beautiful Buick that was restored to keep it looking its best...
that's what you get with this Roadmaster Riviera, and that's why
you know you want to take it home today!
