Vehicle Description
1973 Jeep CJ-5
An early version initially called the "Willys Overland" morphed
from military GP (general purpose) vehicle to the mass-produced CJ,
short for "civilian Jeep." More than 1.5 million CJ Jeeps were
built, having continued the same basic body style for 45 years
since the Jeep first appeared. Widely regarded as "America's
workhorse", the CJs have been described as "probably the most
successful utility vehicle ever made." The word Jeep is an acronym
of the letters GP.
The call of the wild, the great outdoors, into the great wide open,
getti'n a little mud on the tires, all representative of this 1973
CJ which has undergone a full frame off restoration, and now can
take you anywhere, anytime, in any weather. You decide, the wild is
your oyster...(sic.)
Exterior
As the consigner states...all new, from the floors to the body
panels (mostly steel) right down to the bezels on the dash knobs,
it's all new. A great warm red with gold RENEGADE stripes and black
fender flares to frame the big knobby BF Goodrich TA Radials
mounted on polished aluminum wheels. A tasteful lift kit raises
this 4-wheeler to a higher status. The lightweight canvas top
drapes over padded steel roll bars and stretches toward the fold
down windshield. Seen upfront is a Smittybuilt X20 10,000-pound
winch which will pull you out of any trouble you may find yourself
in, up in the hills. Also, comes with a full softop and soft
doors.
Interior
Canvas textured tan vinyl covers the front buckets, and back bench.
The buckets flank a large center console/storage box. Black
carpeting floods the floors and seat surrounds in the back, as well
as the gate storage area. The beautiful matching warm red dash
sports all new gauges, knobs and a passenger dash mounted chromed
"Jesus" bar. Fronting the dash is a clean original Jeep steering
wheel. An aftermarket stereo hangs below the dash, and this plays
CD's, and can tune to AM and FM bands. 2 shifters sprout from the
center of the floor one for the transmission and the other for the
transfer case and the 4-wheel drive modes. No doors are attached,
so you are free and easy.
Drivetrain
The original totally rebuilt 304ci mill in metallic blue sparkles
inside a pristine engine bay. No runs, no drips, no errors here
with a virtually new mill and all its parts. A 3-speed rebuilt
transmission is bolted to the back. Headers and a Magnaflow 2"
stainless exhaust with 5" tips protrude from the side, and when the
engine is cranked up these just growl at you.
Undercarriage
Clean and mean would be the best way to describe the underside with
perfect black frame, structural components, and new suspension. All
nonstructural areas such as floorpans, and underbody is painted the
matching red to the upside. 4-wheel power drum brakes are noted, as
well as a new fuel tank, brake lines, and fittings. The transfer
case and transmission are clean and dry.
You don't have to be Bear Grylls to venture outside and enjoy the
country up close and personal. You don't even have to be Smokey The
Bear to have outdoor adventures. This Jeep is a newly rebuilt (only
88 miles since rebuild) tool to take you where you would not
normally venture in a vehicle. Comes with the original factory
build sheet. High ground clearance, large gripping tires, and a
tough engine and transmission, will move you up on the survivalist
ladder, and have you feeling a Rocky Mountain high!
