Vehicle Description
1985 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible
Originally derived from "El Hombre Dorado" meaning man in gold,
this king's coronation included him being covered in gold dust,
then submerged into a sacred river. The story then changed to "Lost
City of Gold" which fascinated the Spanish explorers for centuries,
although all to no avail. Finally, in the early 1900's, after many
attempts, the story was realized as myth, and trying to find the
King's lost civilization or his city were given up on.
For the first time since the famed '76 Eldorado ragtop, Cadillac
offered a convertible: the new and posh Biarritz. Its rear side
windows raised and lowered automatically with the power top, and it
contained a glass back window. Convertible bodies came in three
colors: Cotillion White, Hatteras Blue, and Autumn Maple Firemist.
Each had a white diamond-grain vinyl top, glass rear window, and
color-coordinated headliner. Reinforced frame rails and crossmember
braces and a bolstered body structure added the necessary strength
and rigidity.
Exterior
Cotillion White drapes this steel paneled car and presents in good
condition. A white top with little to no markings to speak of,
adorns the top, and can be automatically lowered at the touch of a
button for instant sunshine and wind in your hair. Fit and finish
are fair, and body is solid. A stainless trim piece stretches the
length of the car along the rockers and Cadillac spoked wheel
covers add to the overall "bling" of the vehicle.
Interior
The interior features "pillowed" style "tufted" leather seating in
wonderful red finish. Cadillac embossed logos show at the top of
each seat, given we see a split front bench and a spacious back
bench. All seating shows very slight wear for age. Dash and
instrumentation is original, and no chips or cracks are evident on
the plentiful veneered dash. Some digital displays are noted along
with the usual analog. The matching red steering wheel is in good
condition, and adjustable up and down. Headliner is free of any
blemishes, and in good condition with no fading or tears. The car
is equipped with power steering, power brakes, power driver seat,
digital climate control, cruise control, power windows, power
mirrors, and a factory AM/FM/Cassette Symphony Sound player. The
plush red carpeting throughout, is generally clean and shows some
staining. All power options are operational.
Drivetrain
A 4.1-liter V8 powers a 4-speed plus electronic overdrive
transmission, that offers accelerating power as well as maintaining
fuel efficiency on long trips.
Undercarriage
Slight surface rust is noted where undercoating has flaked off, but
otherwise the undercarriage is very stable. Underside of doors show
slight rust invasion as well, but otherwise unremarkable.
