For Sale: 1975 Triumph TR6 in Gautier, Mississippi

Vehicle Description

Ok folks - it was pretty clear I was a real rookie in posting a classic car to this medium for sale back in January, which would be expected since the last classic car I previously owned was a 1971 MG Midget when it was brand new in 1971.

Over the past several months a lot of requests for photos I didn't think to take. So the photos now include engine compartment, undercarriage and wheels/rims. Photos of the wheel wells just don't come out - but the undercoating is there. And several more to follow shortly.

This is a 1975 Triumph TR6. Pimento Red with Tan Top & Seats.

6 cylinder, 4-speed manual with dual carbs (rebuilt in Dec 2018), along with a new brake master cylinder.  Master and Slave cylinders for the clutch are under 2 years.

And to satisfy a question more than a handful have asked - No the gear shift/transmission does not have over-drive

The Tires are Coker Classic Red Line Radials and in excellent conditions.  To correct a few dings, I re-sanded  and painted the rims with a metallic grey finish. The tires come with aluminum covers which are in excellent conditions - photos included for each tire.

The car is mechanically sound and runs great. I take it out at least once a quarter for a nice spin up and down the length I-10 along the Mississippi Gulf Coast and she enjoys tripping along at 75+mph.

I am at least the 4th owner of the vehicle and no history came with the car. I know that the car was restored at some point because the seats, carpet, top and gas tank in the boot (trunk) were relatively new when I purchased the car in 2015.  The odometer now reflects 30,699 miles - no claim by me that these are original with no rollover.  However, the vehicle's Commission Stamp (US Vin) is CF35004U and the Engine Stamp is CF35007UE, and the minor sequence variation means the engine in the car is exactly the engine that came with the vehicle when it came off the production line.  With no history, and not being a real auto mechanic, there is no easy way to tell about if or when an engine rebuild might have been done. If a restoration was done, as element of the interior suggest, then perhaps the engine received a touch of love at well, but that would have been 10-6 years ago,

The only negative is the came with no radio when I purchased it. My intent was to outfit it with a radio, but with a host of personal blue tooth devices and speakers  around these days, I opted to go that route for sound.  And besides, with a soft top, that is down all the time when I have it out, radio theft is a higher probability now than it was back in 1975. If the lack of a radio is an issue and the only hold-up, we can negotiate a solution. For me, my Samsung tablet and Bose Bluetooth speakers work just fine and no risk of theft.

From my perspective, as a casual driver, and not a hard core mechanics or classic car ace, this car is neither a pristine, unblemished show car that will garner trophies or command top dollar in the $20,000 range or higher at a sale or auction, but nor is the vehicle a project car in need of serious repairs or restoration to make it presentable or drivable to be spirited away at bargain prices at the $10,000 or less range. This is a sweet vehicle that is in the middle of these two zones, and as such warrants a ceiling at $15,000 or OBE.

For those in need of wanting to know why I am selling, it is not because I have to or want to and it is not because I need to dump this money pits due to continuous repairs. Not the case at all.  If you are into classic cars , then you realize how important it is to be able to enjoy the thrill with your spouse.  Well, my spouse is now at that age where her internal heater is running boiling hot all the time.  This wonderful car does not come with A/C.  Take down the top you say, but in sunny and humid coastal Mississippi, even generating a breeze at 75+mph plus is not really helpful, and sooner or later the speed has to come down under a blazing sun. So, it is time to part company with the car and let it end up with another owner who car enjoy it with his or her partner or significant other, as the case may be.

Time to find this jewel a new home.  Best opportunity will be for the next 2 months, as in October, Crusin the Coast along the Mississippi Gulf Coast happens and pretty confident a buyer will pop up during that event.  If interest or re-interested, let me know.
