This 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 received a complete body - off -
frame restoration which was just completed in 2017. The numbers -
matching 396 V8 engine is partnered with a 3 - speed automatic
numbers matching TH400 transmission and 3:31 rear differential was
professionally rebuilt. It has power steering and power brakes
(front disc) and the original AM radio was converted to receive FM
as well. The shifter for the transmission was originally on the
column but was changed to a floor shifter and the console was added
during the restoration process. The suspension is all new, the
brakes are all new and the glass is all new. It did not come with
the gauge package, so the previous owner added a temperature gauge
at the front of the console. It was repainted the original color of
Cranberry Red as shown on the original "build sheet" which is
included, and which also proves that it's an original Super Sport
and not a clone. The car runs and drives great just like what you
would expect from a car straight from the factory. It was built in
Atlanta in June 1970 and sold by Bill Heard Chevrolet in Columbus,
GA in August to a GI who had just returned from Vietnam. It was
purchased in November 2017 and treated like the queen she is. The
guy who restored it took over 600 photos of the entire process
which are on a thumb drive which will be included with the car
along with the original warranty booklet with Protect-O-Plate, an
owner's manual, shop manual and 1970 Chevelle dealer brochure. Also
included is a folder with dozens of receipts for various parts and
services like the engine rebuild, etc.
