Dodge built the C Series line of pickup trucks from 1954 to 1960, representing a complete redesign from their predecessors. In order to compete with the Chevrolet Cameo Carrier, Dodge introduced the Sweptside, which incorporated Chrysler’s ambitious ‘Forward Look’ styling theme. It was so attractive that it was nicknamed the ‘Handsomest Truck on the Road.” Unlike the more pedestrian versions, this special model was hand assembled to ensure the highest build quality possible. A whole array of equipment was made standard, including a heater, armrests for the door panels, windshield wipers, duotone paint, wood bed floor and the most futuristic styling that ever graced a utility vehicle.
