1946 Mercury Eight Coupe
At the conclusion of WWII the American Car Manufactures converted back to civilian automobile manufacturing to serve pent-up demand from focus on the war effort. Most 1946 models were carry-overs from the pre-war models and styling, and the 1946 Mercury Eight followed suit. The Mercury, presented as a mid-point for consumers between the Ford and Lincoln brand, enjoyed great success in the market.
This very well preserved example presented at auction is a real head-turner when cruising down the road or presenting at car shows. The solid body did receive restoration work and a re-paint to a fine wine color, a slight variation to the brown adorning the car when originally bought from the showroom floor in 1946. The interior is beautiful and presents the original color of the car very well with the brown and tan upholstery. The flathead V-8 fires right up and runs very smooth and maintains the power from the factory. This is a very reliable and fun Sunday afternoon driver and car show favorite. While the car sports custom rims and good tread tires, the original factory rims, beauty rings and moon hubcaps go with the car.
