https://youtu.be/ftGB0sODRgs Early Ford Mustangs are still among
one of the strongest blue Chip investment any car collector could
make. Honing in on some of most rare examples can cost someone
their childrens college education! These examples are most
certainly to have the Carroll Shelby badge affixed to them. So,
most enthusiasts of the popular Mustang GT350 will settle for a
recreation, or tribute, over the real thing. This 1965 Mustang
convertible is a superb example built to satisfy both the visual
eye and the performance appetite of anyone lucky enough to park it
in their garage! Built to mimic one of only 4 true GT350
Convertibles built in 1966, it represents one of the rarest Shelbys
ever produced, but this one can be driven on a fraction of the
budget! This 1965 Ford Mustang Convertible is brilliantly finished
in Ford Race Red over Palomino Tan Deluxe Pony interior. Starting
with a San Jose, CA production example that was parked with 71,000
miles in the late 1970s in Visalia, CA, this totally rust free
convertible was the perfect platform for a prominent Shelby GT350
recreation build! The car was sourced by the Green family in
December 2007 and was immediately stripped, placed on a rotisserie,
and media blasted for expert restoration! The entire year long
restoration process was fully photo documented with over 350
detailed pictures, all cataloged chronologically in a binder
included with the sale. Beginning with a completely bare metal
foundation, it would be properly refinished in factory red oxide
primer, seam sealed, and then fitted with all new stainless steel
brake and fuel lines, all new suspension that included the upgrade
Shelby 1 front drop spindles and GT style disc brakes! The paint
and body work would be perfected by Jims Classics and Hot Rods.
From there, every single nut and bolt would be replaced for new
hardware, along with all new wiring harnesses, rebuilt heater
system, refinished dash components, new 5-dial GT gauge cluster,
addition of the Shelby style Cobra dash tachometer, upgraded Custom
Autosound AM/FM radio, and so much more! The bare metal of the
interior compartment was also treated to a proper red oxide primer
coating before a moisture barrier and new carpeting was installed,
as well as all new interior professionally installed with Cobra
style seatbelts. Under the hood of this example lies a rebuilt 1969
date-coded 302ci V8 dressed properly as a performance 289ci with
appropriate Ford component heads & intake, Holley carburetion,
Tri-Y headers, chrome valve cover & air cleaner, along with FOMOCO
hoses for a brilliant factory presentation! Behind this stellar
power plant is a 4-speed top loader manual transmission and correct
9 Ford rear axle fitted with 3.50 gearing! Further options and
attributes include aluminum Shelby 10-spoke wheels with matching
spare, BF Goodrich Radial whitewall tires, Moto-Lita wood steering
wheel, power convertible top, Old Air Products air conditioning
system with auxiliary electric cooling fan, Talbot-style chrome
rearview mirror; Shelby body side scoops, fiberglass hood with
scoop, GT350 gas cap & emblems, gold body side stripe, and interior
Shelby American sill plates! This rust-free California car has seen
a very comprehensive frame up restoration that replaced every piece
of the fuel system, braking system, suspension components, complete
interior, and convertible top! Finished in 2009 and driven
seasonally ever since, we feel this fully sorted example would be
hard to duplicate for anywhere near our asking price! Included with
the sale will be two sets of keys and Ford owners manual. Please
feel welcome to call for further details or schedule a chance for
us to show you this beautiful Mustang in person! Thanks for
looking!
