Very rare 1940 Mercury Convertible Sedan, only 978 produced. Two-time National Dearborn Award Winner, Early Ford Club of America with over 990 out of 1,000 points. This car has also received awards at the Serrano Concourse, Silverado Concourse and Capitol Concourse in Northern California. Recently featured at the California Automobile Museum.
Owned by current owner for over 40 years. Professionally restored using many NOS parts. Research and assembly by owner who has restored numerous cars for Concourse for Early Ford V8 Club and Pebble Beach.
Exterior: Correct 1940 Mercury Lyon Blue paint, all four fenders, chrome trim and running boards are NOS. No dings, dents or rust. All rubber is new reproduction or custom made. Rare accessory rear gravel guard. New black Hartz cloth top with red piping. New top cover.
Undercarriage: Under floor refinished Lyon Blue, chassis is semi-gloss black and all nuts and bolts are (S2) satin as original.
Interior: Correct dark red leather interior and carpet. No wear, rips or tears in upholstery. Beautiful light blue dash and steering wheel. No cracks on steering wheel.
Motor and Driveline: 239 V8 , 100 hp flathead V8 with 4 inch Mercury crankshaft with correct carburetor, fuel pump, distributor and water pump. Less than 2,000 miles on rebuild. Rebuilt transmission, brakes, steering and suspension. NOS muffler and exhaust system.
