The 1963 Ford Fairlane falls right in the middle of the fourth
generation. The 1963s have gathered a following partially from
their somewhat unique looks, but also due to the racing heritage of
the legendary Ford Thunderbolt. A multi-faceted car available with
a myriad of options and combinations, the Fairlane is an American
icon that won't soon be forgotten.
This 1963 Fairlane 500 was built to run, while retaining that
classic "Day Two" style. Restored to look mostly original
cosmetically, this little number has received a variety of tasteful
and powerful upgrades that are sure to make your weekend cruises a
little more exciting! Under the hood is a Ford 302 V8 upgraded with
Canfield heads, roller rockers, a Weiand intake, headers, chrome
oil pan, and more. This car sounds mean, and has plenty of bite to
back up the bark! The 302 is mated to a Tremec 5-speed manual
transmission for maximum fun and road feel. The transmission was
installed professionally and properly. No doubt, this car will turn
some heads! Of course, you'll be too busy smiling to the tune of
the thunderous exhaust with the electric cutouts open to notice. An
electric inline fuel pump has been installed to keep up with the
engine, and to make the car easier to start on those cold
mornings.
Although this car was originally black with red interior, the blue
on blue combination is quite flattering and adds to the
unsuspecting nature of this car. With the cutouts closed, it's
almost a sleeper! The interior was restored to mostly original
specifications, with the only glaring modifications being the
aftermarket gauges to keep an eye on how things are going while
you're out doing racecar stuff. The factory gauge cluster only
provides the basics, so a set of Autogage gauges have been mounted
to reflect oil pressure, voltage, and water temperature.
Additionally, an Autogage tachometer with a shift light has been
installed for those high RPM pulls. This car is comfortable and
fun; a specimen certain to take you back in time!
The exterior is in excellent shape with no major flaws to speak of.
the blue looks amazing on this Fairlane and really accents the
beautiful body lines. A North Carolina car for at least 30 years,
it is unlikely that this car ever saw any severe rust. The body is
clean and straight, and the underside is cleaner than you could
reasonably expect the underside of a car to be. This is a turn key
performance cruiser, ready to hit the road! All it needs is a new
owner.
