Vehicle Description
With a high impact paint scheme draped over its sleek
second-generation form, this 1971 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 RS Tribute
will no doubt attract plenty of attention. It's a great looking
classic, and it's still clad in its original colors and features
both a thoroughly restored, well-appointed interior and a strong
running V8 that's just waiting to spring into action under the
hood.
Chevy took its prized muscle car through a thorough restyling just
a year before this '71 debuted, equipping it with a more
aerodynamic profile and a wider track - and the aggressive combo of
tuxedo black paint with the pair of broad gold stripes running the
lengths of the cowl hood and deck lid mirror the look this specimen
had when it rolled off the assembly line. There are a number of
very cool exterior features that come by way of its upper crust
status - among them is the split front bumper that puts a
fresh-looking front grille in perfect view, as well as the very
clean jet-black front air dam and rear spoiler perched on the deck
lid. Those accenting stripes are no decals - they're painted on and
they look great as they pass over the aggressive 4" cowl hood up
front. The badging proclaiming Chevy's Z/28 status is looking sharp
and correctly spaced and, from front to back, all the chrome on
board looks to be in very good shape.
Climb inside and you'll be surrounded by a vintage interior that's
really in great form. It's been recently restored and shows all the
hallmarks of a job very well done, with an array of fresh
components taking their places inside. Both the front buckets and
rear bench seat sport well-fitted black vinyl covers and sit over
black carpeting ornamented with a pair of Z/28 floor mats up front.
There's an ultra-sharp woodgrain steering wheel with a matte black
center on the column and the instrument panel just beyond it now
carries an assortment of Dakota Digital gauges that have been
seamlessly installed into their proper factory locations. The
center console is also newly installed and puts the signature Chevy
horseshoe shifter within easy reach. This is a very comfortable
driving environment as well - a Vintage Air climate control system
stands by to cool or heat the cabin as needed and there's a
retro-looking stereo on hand to provide your audio experience while
on the road.
Just beneath the cowl hood is another strong feature on this
classic - its engine compartment is very nicely detailed and offers
a fresh V8 that's wearing a Chevy badged air cleaner with a super
sharp, blacked out look, as well as a pair of valve covers with
lettering that documents its displacement-enhancing transformation
- it began life as a 350 before being stroked out to its current
383 cubic inches and packs all that extra torque that comes with
it. It's equipped with an Edelbrock intake and a Holley 4-barrel
carb to further boost its output, and a pair of long tube headers
to minimize exhaust backpressure. The drivetrain is rounded out by
a solid-shifting 3-speed automatic TH400 transmission and a 4.10
posi traction rear end that provides blazing off the line
acceleration. Smooth power steering makes for easy navigation,
while power brakes that position discs up front provide ample
stopping ability as this eye-catching street machine scorches
asphalt on its set of 15" black steel wheels wearing BF Goodrich
T/A radials.
