Vehicle Description
This 1965 Buick Riviera designed by Bill Mitchell. All the GM
divisions were fighting for the car, but Buick's general manager Ed
Rollert convinced GM design czar Bill Mitchell that Buick was the
perfect division, likely because Rollert agreed not to alter the
stunning design of the original "La Salle" design sketches Mitchell
presented. In, 1965 the stylists under tutelage of Bill Mitchell
pulled out all the stop and designed headlamps hidden behind
clamshell doors, which covered the headlamps in this one-year-only
offering. Known as the "Banker's Hot Rod" powered by the 401
Nailhead, developing 325 HP and 445 Ft/LBs. of torque. This is a
precursor to the hemi. It was built lower, a bit shorter and a bit
narrower than the other GM A body vehicles. The vehicle looks fast
standing still. Body lines have not been changed but many
