Vehicle Description
Featuring a very cool, early '70s vibe and plenty of curb appeal,
this 1972 Chevrolet Monte Carlo represents a pivotal model for
Chevy - its lengthy, two door design was a serious break with
tradition at the time it was released. The stylistic gamble would
pay off - Monte Carlos went on to be very popular for quite some
time, especially first generation specimens like this one. It will
pull into its next lucky owner's garage complete with maintenance
records to document the exacting care it's received, as well as
with its original warranty to add just a bit of historical
perspective.
The yellow exterior gives this Chevy a bright, vital look and the
paint sits over a foundation that's in good alignment - as you
circle the car, you'll notice that the body lines are on point and
the gaps surrounding the doors, hood and deck lid are nice and
uniform. Above, the black vinyl top is in downright excellent
shape, with no signs of wear and no bubbling in sight. That
dominant, egg-crate front grille was added the year this '72 rolled
out and it, along with the other exterior fittings, looks very
strong. Both the front and back bumpers have likely been recently
added, the window and fender well trim have a good shine to them
and show no obvious dings and the rocker panel trim on both sides
looks very clean. Factor in the clear glass encircling the cabin
and clear headlights and taillights and you have a vintage Chevy
with a very road-ready appearance.
The black vinyl interior has seen plenty of attention to bring it
to its current condition. It's really looking nice and, if you take
a closer look, you'll see a number of components that have either
been restored or replaced entirely. The wide front buckets show no
tears or pronounced wear spots and they bracket a very clean
looking center console that features one of Chevy's most
distinctive interior styling features at the time - the horseshoe
shifter. The door panels and the rear bench seat are also in great
shape and the fresh headliner is very well fitted. Up front, the
dash area now wears a newly applied burlwood panel that surrounds
its collection of factory gauges, which are joined by a trio of
aftermarket counterparts just below that are fully functional. The
original AM/FM radio still resides at the center and the in-dash
vents also on board team with an air conditioning system that's in
good form to keep the cabin comfortable. Additional comfort and
convenience features include a tilt column, cruise control and
power windows.
There's a period correct 402 cubic inch V8 waiting to spring into
action beneath the hood. It's been kept in entirely stock
configuration, so you'll still find the original intake and exhaust
manifolds, as well as the original carb in place and performing
well. The big block pairs with a 3-speed automatic transmission
that's shifting smoothly to round out a very road-ready drivetrain.
There's been quite a bit of diligent maintenance work performed as
well - the engine and transmission were pulled and serviced, at
which time the rear main seal was also replaced, there's a new
radiator up front, along with all new hoses and belts. Power
steering makes this stylish classic easy to navigate, while power
brakes that feature discs up front bring its set of aftermarket
wheels to prompt, low-effort stops.
