Vehicle Description
The beautiful Buick Skylark Custom that you see here began life at
the Fremont, CA plant and was painted Fire Red (75) with a Pearl
White (155) interior. Additional options include power steering,
power brakes, power windows, power top, tilt wheel, and
air-conditioning. The car was sold new in California and remained
there with its original owner until 2011 when it was sold to a
collector who restored it to GS Stage 1 Specification, an upgrade
from its original specification. According to historians, only 81
convertibles left the factory with the Stage 1 engine option, so it
is understandable that the unique configuration is often duplicated
during the restoration of these cars. This particular restoration
was of a rust-free car that received a 455 cubic inch big block
engine built to Stage 1 specs. Additionally, it received a 4L80
overdrive transmission, 12-bolt 3.42 posi-traction rear end, and a
custom stainless steel exhaust. All power options that were
previously on this car were retained and are in working order
today. The beautiful red paint is a PPG mixture that has been
covered with a clear coat. The interior pieces were supplied by
Legendary and a black Haartz cloth top was installed. All chrome
was re-plated while the stainless was polished. Merging the power
with the pavement are eight inch wide wheels from Wheel Vintique
that are wrapped in appropriate BF Goodrich rubber. This is a great
running and driving car that is very comfortable and reliable when
you want it to be and a beast when you don't. It is offered at a
fraction of the cost it would take to duplicate.
