Vehicle Description
There weren't many big-window Ford pickups built in 1961, and
precious few remain. Here is a thorough restoration and
customization of one of these limited production trucks. The paint
is an artful blending of PPG Sunset Orange and Dark Silver
including overlapping and cascading flames. The door handles, gas
door, and emblems were shaved and the front bumper was cut 5 inches
and brought closer to the body for a smooth look. Inside the seats
and headliner are covered in rich leather to compliment the custom
dash and center console. The interior is a real comfort zone with a
Hurricane air conditioner, plus power windows and locks, tilt
wheel, and a Premier Audio sound system. Is this classic Ford all
show and no go? Of course not. A 351 Ford V8 fortified with the
hottest hardware from Edelbrock, Pete Jackson, Lunati, and Hedman
all reside under an ultra-cool homemade induction system that gives
the engine room a tricked-out appearance. A C6 Automatic with a
shift kit gives you firm and dependable shifts. The all-Ford
drivetrain is completed by none other than a Ford 9-inch rear. In
fact, the bed was notched to accommodate the best possible third
member. Front disc brakes bring it all to a safe halt, and handling
and looks are further enhanced with the tasteful selection of
staggered 18 and 20 inch American Racing 5-spoke wheels on Goodrich
G-force performance radials.
