Vehicle Description
It's just a coincidence that this car's VIN ends in 455, but it's
the kind of thing an Olds fan could love. Upon further
investigation, you'll see that this '72 Cutlass Resto Mod is
charmed in many areas, and you needn't be an Olds fan to appreciate
them. The look is the beloved 442 with ID in the grille, those huge
hood scoops with white striping, stripes on the side with 442
badges, and out back, the 442 ID and, of course, the famous
megaphone exhaust tips. There's even a Hurst/Olds style rear wing.
The classic look is augmented with a set of 17" American 200S mags
and just the right rake. Under those scoops, though, is an LS3 V8,
and what at first looks like the de rigeur Hurst 4-speed shifter
actually shows a pattern for 6 forward speeds! The car even sports
4-wheel disc brakes. The LS3 takes on the attitude of the feared
DRCE engines made famous by Warren Johnson with fabricated valve
covers and big tube headers. Almost lost in all this automotive
nirvanna is the fact that this is a Cutlass convertible. That,
along with the modern running gear and classic ID, make this Olds
an ideal cruiser.
