Vehicle Description
America has witnessed significant events that have elevated certain
cars to pop-culture iconic status. Often it's a movie or TV show
such as Fast & Furious, Smokey and the Bandit, Starsky and Hutch,
Bullit, Vanishing Point, or The Love Bug. In recent years, the car
culture itself has produced such events with major auctions. At one
such auction, a Chevrolet Chevelle SS454 Convertible sold for more
than 1.1 Million dollars. An SS454 convertible was already a very
desirable muscle car, but after this type of news hits, the
awareness and collectibility of the car gets a shot of adrenaline.
This 1971 Chevelle SS Convertible has that great body shape and of
course the big block 454. It also rocks the SS stripes. But it
stands on its own merit just by virtue of its long list of very
impressive quality features. It's been updated and upgraded to go
toe to toe with any car, SS454 or otherwise. The engine features
aluminum GM Performance heads, and inhales through a cowl induction
hood, to a big 750 Holley and Edelbrock intake. The motor's healthy
appetite is fed with an electric fuel pump, and Hooker Headers
rapidly scavenge the gases from the cylinders to make room for more
fuel. A powerful big block makes heat, so a big aluminum radiator
and twin electric fans do the job up front. The result is instant
response and a beefy get-out-of-my-way sound. The four-speed
automatic transmission is ably controlled by a B&M racing style
shifter. It's a ratchet unit with reverse lockout, but it also
looks killer in the center console. The interior is simply
top-notch. The two-tone beige leather upholstery would look right
at home in a high-end exotic, but the main thing is that it's
supremely comfortable. It's the kind of thing that just feels right
instantly when you get in. It pampers you with air conditioning,
tilt wheel, power windows, power locks, and a sound system with
components from JL Audio, Focal, and Pioneer and almost as much
power as the 454. Dakota Digital analog gauges look fantastic and
are very accurate. But the driving pleasure is more than luxury.
Sure, there's plenty of power, but the chassis is reinforced to
keep things under control. It sports a Hotchkis rear suspension and
Wilwood 4-wheel disc brakes - and traction control! All this and
it's a convertible too! The top is a beautifully crafted cloth
piece with a glass rear window. And there's a matching parade boot
as well. Well, another standard phrase in the car culture is "too
much to list." We've tried, but you really have to see this awesome
automobile for yourself to take it all in. Or give us a call to
find out more!
