The year 1995 was a significant one for Mustang enthusiasts,
marking the end of the road for the long lived 5.0L pushrod engine.
For over twenty five years, the smooth running and powerful 302 V8
had been available in the Mustang, and it's performance and unique
sound had been immortilized in print and song. The 5.0L in the
1994-95 Cobra's represented the zenith of performance, with 240
horsepower in final form. This output was made possible through the
use of GT-40 iron heads and lower intake, and a Cobra specific
upper intake. The improvements in breathing ability meant the Cobra
produced 25 more horsepower than the standard GT engine. Not
stopping there, Ford also installed upgraded 13" disc brakes, a
stiffer Cobra specific suspension set up, and unique 17x8" polished
aluminum wheels with sticky 255mm wide tires. On the outside, a new
front fascia with round fog lamps, Cobra snake badges, a Cobra
specific rear spoiler, and SVT badge on the trunk announced that
this was not your average Mustang. Performance was quick, with 0-60
flashing by in 6.3 seconds and the capability to hit 140mph on the
top end. As if this wasn't a unique enough car itself, Ford
produced 1003 convertibles, all black with tan interiors. Of those
convertibles produced, a scant 499 came with a truly unique painted
hard top that turned this convertible into a coupe in just a few
minutes time. These tops were hand fitted to each convertible, and
are not interchangeable. The time consumed at the factory hand
fitting these tops meant that Ford decided to not bring back the
option in 1996, making these hard tops extremely rare!! The
beautiful Cobra you see pictured is an amazing example of the
breed. Fully loaded with every available option, and having covered
only 22,000 miles, the Cobra drives like a brand new car. The
engine is amazingly smooth, the clutch feel is wonderful, and the
ride is superb. The overall driving experience is fun and
rewarding, putting a big smile on your face. The SN-95 Cobras are
just beginning the rise to collector car status, and now is a great
time to get in on the ground floor. Don't miss the opportunity to
