1956 Continental Mark II 2-Door Sport Coupe
"Renowned as one of the 1950s finest designs, these class-act
automobiles were built as well as anything in the world at the
time." - Hagerty
Garage Kept Motors is pleased to offer this rare and stunning
Continental Mark II for consideration. To compete with Chrysler's
Imperial and GM's Cadillac line, Ford/Lincoln rolled out its very
own Continental Division between 1956-1958, which was to be a step
above the base Lincoln line. Only 2,550 were built in total, yet
were handcrafted to be one of the best looking and performing
classic cars of all time. The original sticker price was north of
$10k, which was astronomical for the time. An exclusive built car
for an exclusive driving class.
This example was originally sold through Dickerson Motors Inc. in
St. Louis, MO. The car was originally black from the factory (code
01) over a Medium Gray Nylon and White Leather interior. The car is
powered by the original 368ci (6.0L) 285hp 4bbl V8, which was
blueprinted and individually tested at the factory prior to
installation. The Continental featured the new Multi-Drive
automatic transmission as well. The Mark II was built with the
latest and greatest technology of the time. They didn't sell well,
but they were never intended to. They were to display Ford's
prowess of building a world-class automobile: the Continental.
This big and beautiful coupe ended up making its way to Michigan in
1987 and underwent a full restoration to factory specifications
around 2009. Exterior paint and interior were completely restored.
Three years ago, the entire exhaust system, which travels through
the rocker panels and out the rear bumpers, was replaced. The car
has been preserved to be as original as possible and just had
alignment done as well. It fires on command, runs strong, and
drives true. It would be the staple to any collection or any
enthusiasts garage. Be sure to check out all the photos and video
