Vehicle Description
This freshly-built 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback GT350 tribute is done
with the correct care right down to the details - like the
performance V8, four-on-the-floor, and slick Shelby styling. But as
you dig deeper, you'll also find the most worthwhile subtle
upgrades around (like the A/C interior.)
A Shelby-built GT350 will cost a fortune, and even a nice tribute
like this requires a major investment. So while they were busy
putting the work into making a snake-bitten coupe, it's also nice
to see some custom touches that really highlight the effort. It all
results in a car that looks mean and distinct and will also stand
out in the Mustang crowd. There's just no mistaking the original
GT350 appearance. It starts with taking one of the rarest and often
most valuable of the three Mustang configurations, the 2+2
fastback, and making it look even better. The body was restored at
Memory Lane Restoration, and it includes a professional
re-application of factory-correct Wimbledon White paint. Plus, the
hood scoop, clean grille, and larger side air ducts are icons from
the years Shelby was building these out of his Los Angeles factory.
But it's instantly easy to distinguish this '65 from across the
show field thanks to the addition of the red competition stripes,
and that's also repeated on the GT-style rockers. Plus, when you're
enjoying this coupe out on the road, upgraded headlights and LED
taillight are a handy addition. The result is a car that looks
correct and nicely presented while still being quite
distinctive.
Inside the white and red theme continues. And because there's less
than 350 miles on this since completing restoration, everything
remains vivid and fresh. You know this the moment you open the door
and lay eyes on the premium "Pony" package bucket seats. This
two-tone vinyl matches so nicely with the fold-down rear seat, door
panels, headliner, capering, and dashboard. Wood on the steering
wheel rim and wood paneling on the dash give it a luxury feeling.
This impression continues on premium upgrades like the retro-style
AM/FM stereo w/iPod input, modern tilt steering column, and
cold-blowing R134a air conditioning. But being a GT350 means being
a driver's car, too. So you get a tingle of performance the moment
your right hand rests on the stick shift. The upgrade to Dakota
Digital gauges means you're always fully informed.
Under the hood is 289 cubic-inch motor that's dressed to impress
the Shelby crowd. It has the Cobra air cleaner and Cobra valve
covers boldly sitting on top of the V8. And since this is
originally an A-code coupe, you'll be happy to see a four-barrel
carburetor helping the stout V8 inhale deeply. Plus, as you look
over this tidy and fresh setup, you notice the right supporting
components, like the full MSD electrical package and an aluminum
radiator w/electric fan. Long tube headers feeding an X-pipe dual
exhaust give this total package more bark and bite. The four-speed
manual transmission gives you total control over this growling V8.
Plus, full control is in-hand with features like front disc brakes
and modern performance tires on iconic Halibrand-style wheels.
All it takes is one look at the exceptionally clean undercarriage
to understand the level of investment that went into this GT350
tribute. So beyond the great looks is a great build, which makes
this a fantastic buy. Call now!
