Vehicle Description
It's not often you come across a classic car that's logged fewer
than 100,000 miles over a more than 45 year life span, but that's
just what we have here with this 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu.
It's a "survivor" in the most positive sense of the term, still
carrying its original colors both inside and out, while having
received just the attention needed under the hood to prepare it for
plenty more miles to come.
The Mohave gold color it wears has a definite aftermarket
sensibility, but in fact it represents an offering from Chevy's '72
color chart, and this seldom-seen shade has come through the years
looking pretty darned strong. It exudes a convincing shine, and is
in pretty enviable condition from front to back. Chevy changed up
the front grilles on their coveted muscle cars the very year this
one came out, and if you take a look from up front, you'll see that
this one is a very clean representative of the updated styling cue.
While this classic Chevy hasn't received any exterior restoration
in its lifetime, its collection of exterior fittings sits securely
in place. The front and rear bumpers are straight as an arrow and
don't show any major blemishes - a visit to a chrome replater will
have them looking really great. The remaining bright work is very
much good to go in its present state and a closer overall
inspection will convince you that this is, in fact, a very solid
car.
Inside the doors, the tan interior holds plenty of early '70s
magic, though a little bit of attention to some fairly minor
details will take it to a higher level. The bench seats in both
front and back still look much as they did when they were new -
they're firmly padded and show no marked discoloration or creasing
as they loom over an expanse of contrasting black carpeting that
appears to have been recently replaced. The original steering wheel
sits on the column and could benefit from some freshening up, as
could the gauges sitting just beyond it in the instrument cluster -
both fairly easy fixes. The dash pad running the width of the cabin
is in fine shape and shows no signs of any cracking - always a
welcome sight. In the center of the dash, you'll notice that the
radio is no longer in place, which affords you the opportunity to
upgrade the audio possibilities to your own specifications. The
trunk area in back is rock solid - with no liner covering the
floor, its interior components are in full view and looking
good.
Whether you decide to take this Malibu to the next level
cosmetically or not, this is a very road-ready ride. The 350 cubic
inch V8 sitting under the hood, sports a properly painted orange
block and valve covers and is as fresh as can be, having logged
just 250 miles since its recent rebuild. Just as you'd expect, it
fires right up when called upon and runs great, wearing a Holley
intake manifold and a 4-barrel Edelbrock carb under its chrome air
cleaner for some added muscle. There's a 3-speed automatic TH350
transmission sitting just behind it that's shifting very securely,
so this is a high functioning drivetrain by any measure. Power
steering makes this sharp looking Chevy an easy navigator, while
power brakes bring its set of 14" stock Chevy rims outfitted with
Futura GLS Super Sport tires to a stop with little effort.
A coveted Chevy muscle car that's in very solid shape and running
strong, this 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu will make its next
lucky owner very happy. Call today!
