The "Tri-Five" Chevys have long been a fan favorite amongst all
classic car enthusiasts. The styling of each year is almost certain
to attract everyone to either a 1955, 1956, or 1957. Some folks
prefer all three! Whatever your preferred Tri-Five is, this 1956
Bel Air has many attributes and upgrades sure to reel you in.
Sometimes, it's best to build excitement about a car, but in this
case we'll cut right to the chase! Look no further for a
high-quality '56 Bel Air that's been built to cruise. This car
would show just fine at any event, but has been equipped with all
of the necessary tools to provide easy and comfortable cruising any
time you like. Under the hood sits a Chevrolet 350 V8 plucked out
of a 1989 Camaro IROC-Z. Never fear, this engine was used as the
starting point for the now-carbureted engine you see in the car.
With dual Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetors, this V8 delivers more
than enough power to get you up to speed and keep you there with no
issues. HEI ignition and headers have been added along with an
aluminum radiator for improved performance. If you think you saw an
A/C compressor and power steering pump under the hood, that's
because you did! The A/C is cold and fully functional, and when the
car was restored the restorer took the liberty of installing a CPP
power steering kit. Additionally, this car has power brakes with
discs on the front. This Bel Air runs and drives great! Even
better, hooked up to the engine is a GM 700R4 automatic
transmission with a transmission cooler, another attribute
installed by design for comfortable cruising at 70mph plus.
Under the car you'll find dual exhaust with an H-pipe and new
mufflers. It also has a new gas tank, a 10-bolt rear end, tubular
control arms, and a front sway bar. The underside is as clean as
the topside! Speaking of the exterior, the paint on this car has
been done right and looks amazing. Though not the original paint
color for this car, this Bel Air has been refinished in a unique
but 1956 factory available color combination. It appears to be
Colonial Cream/Laurel Green two-tone. This car will certainly draw
a crowd when lined up next to all the other red, blue, and black
Tri-Fives! The body is clean and straight with nice panel gaps, and
all of the brightwork is present and in excellent condition.
Step inside and you'll feel the door shut smoothly and solidly
behind you. Sitting in the beautiful black and yellow bench seats
is immediately like stepping into a time machine and travelling
back to the 1950s. The interior complements the exterior perfectly.
The interior of this Bel air has been restored to near-perfection.
The power windows, heat, A/C, and modern radio work as expected.
The radio is a modern unit, but has the appearance of an old radio
and blends perfectly into the dash! If you glance down at the gauge
cluster, you'll be met with a tasteful, useful, and functional
Classic Instruments all in one cluster. This fits in the original
location, appears correct enough, and provides the operator with
any information he or she may need to know about the state of the
engine. It's like having aftermarket gauges installed under the
dash, except it looks good and blends in! The addition of the tilt
wheel is also another added plus for you tall car guys and gals out
there.
This Bel Air is truly a pleasure to sit in, and while it may look
like a show car it is meant to be driven! The odometer reads
slightly higher than the mileage is, as it needed to be
recalibrated after initial installation. The owner has put about
4,000 easy miles on this old girl since he purchased her from the
restorer; this should cement its reputation as an excellent
cruising candidate! This is a beautiful car that is set up to be
driven. Don't miss out on this green machine!
