For Sale: 1973 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow in Carey, Illinois

Vehicle Description

What can you say about this Silver Shadow Long Wheel Base ("LWB") finished in stunning Peacock Blue with a cream Everflex top, cream leather interior and rich Royal blue carpets with cream binding. The car is finished off with coordinating cream fine-lines to the waist-rail and hubcap beauty rings - all done entirely by hand in the artisan tradition. The presentation and colour combination of this fine example is simply breath-takingly beautiful. West coast car from new, she was only recently restored by Park-Ward. When we received the car she presented straight and accident free, without rust or underside scale - all very tidy. The paint was faded in areas, however, so a complete re-paint in the original factory colour was undertaken and is now truly flawless without a single mark or blemish. A high-end job at a retail value of some $25,000 to include all new window gaskets, moulding clips and body hardware. It is entirely consistent in colour, finish and lustre - the combination simply OUTSTANDING. The exterior of the car presents absolutely beautifully with all finishes, rubbers, gaskets, glass, bright-work, lenses, hub-caps and the chrome in excellent condition. As part of the reconditioning process we removed all the bright-work and machine buffed every individual piece. The fine lines on the car were applied in the same manner as Rolls-Royce did so to all its cars for many years; a trained craftsman with a good eye and steady hand. With only the best squirrel hair brush the striping is applied entirely free-hand in one elegant stroke at a time. The interior of the car presents beautifully, and shows in amazing condition. The leather remains without any unsightly wear marks nor tears and displays very clean yet retains its factory presentation. The burl walnut wood finishes are entirely original and have NEVER been redone. This is rare to see on a Rolls-Royce of this vintage as the RR finish was a very thick and deep lacquer which in mostly all cases, cracks and peels off after years of seasonal temperature change. For this car to sport its original wood can only mean that it has been homed and/or stored under "constant" temperature which very clearly supports its West coast USA up-bringing. The wood in this car is the Milanese burl walnut finish option and displays a lovely grain throughout. The wood presents nicely but does show small signs of chips, hairlines in the clear and minor blemishes, most notable on parts of the dash. We do not, however, think it warrants redoing but this is subjective, and if you would like us to refinish, we can. The door cappings and centre console wood is virtually perfect. The Connolly leather is in excellent condition throughout without any notable marks or blemishes. It is finished in a light cream. The Wilton wool carpets are the rich royal blue with seat matching cream leather binding. The interior combination in contrast with the Peacock exterior is something quite spectacular indeed and looks very rich in both shade and sunlight. The same theme carries thru to the boot (trunk). The dash & rear parcel shelf are as new. All glass, chrome & bright work are excellent. All lights, instruments, features & functions are in working order. Mechanically, the car has been subject to the 30 year service and restoration experience of the Park-Ward Motor Museum's private workshop and trained RR mechanics and craftsmen. Like every other car delivered by us it comes with everything in excellent working condition, fully inspected and serviced. This includes the all-important hydraulics & brakes - fully inspected & pressure tested with any parts replaced &/or over-hauled as required - reservoir, pumps, accumulators, valves, hoses, calipers. All electrics; seats, windows, gauges & instruments have been fully gone thru. The car is an extremely beautiful presenting example that is well in advance of any Silver Shadow II and is in excellent presentation and condition. A strong
