Vehicle Description
The appeal of a first-generation Camaro is undeniable - they're
like a universal language to classic enthusiasts - but many of them
represent some serious challenges as far as road-readiness is
concerned. You'll have no such worries with this 1968 Chevrolet
Camaro. It's a very strong driver, so those good times behind the
wheel can get started right away.
Clad in its bright red paint, this '68 will make a strong
impression. The Camaro may have been a relatively late arrival to
the muscle car wars of the '60s, but Chevy more than made up for it
by equipping its prized model with some serious style, all of which
is well represented here. While a thorough multi-stage detailing
and some minor adjustments will take this Camaro's curb appeal to
an even higher level, make no mistake: it's a head turner just as
it stands right now. A number of the finishing details so often
missing on its counterparts have been taken care of - up front, the
jet black Camaro grille looks very clean over the fresh-looking
front bumper and lower air dam, and the appearance of the door
handles, mirrors and trim suggests all of them were fairly recently
replaced. That prominent cowl hood and rear spoiler, combined with
a relatively badgeless appearance, gives this classic Chevy an
awesome custom appeal without straying too far from the magic
formula that made the model such a winner in the first place.
Climb inside and you'll be surrounded by a classic interior that
checks all the most important boxes. From the thoroughly
refurbished front buckets and rear bench seat to the flush fitting
door panels on each side, to the snug-fitting headliner on down to
the fresh black carpeting lining the floor, this is a great vintage
driving environment. A very sharp, updated steering wheel sits on
the column, while just in front of it, a supple-looking dash pad
spans the width of the cabin and shows no signs of any cracks -
always a welcome sight with UV sensitive black upholstery. The
factory speedometer and tach in the instrument cluster still work
just as intended. Raise the deck lid and you'll find a
fresh-looking rubber seal underneath to keep the elements out and
from this vantage point you can see that the components of the
trunk area look nice and solid.
This Camaro is ready to hit the asphalt just as soon as you get it
home. Armed with a Holley 4-barrel carb, the 396 cubic inch V8
lurking under the cowl hood is in very good form, starting right up
and pulling with plenty of conviction as it sends a nice, deep
exhaust note into the long tube headers leading out to its dual
exhaust. With a featured 4-speed manual transmission sitting just
behind the powerplant, this classic Chevy offers a great "hands on"
driving experience. A number of components, including the
alternator, master cylinder, power booster, belts and hoses, have
been recently replaced for added dependability while an HEI
ignition has been added to maximize available spark. You'll also
find power disc brakes at all four corners, so stops come fast and
easy as this vintage Camaro cruises on its set of 15" reproduction
Rally wheels with centers painted to match the exterior and wrapped
with Nankang tires.
