Vehicle Description
Late '80s sedans rarely come fresher than this one. This 1988
Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Classic has only logged about 76,000
miles in its more than three decades of service and it looks and
runs great. As Detroit was putting heavier and heavier emphasis on
front wheel drive cars, Olds stuck to the tried and true with this
model, keeping its V8 engine/rear wheel drive configuration intact.
A clean AutoCheck report will attest that it's been steered clear
of trouble over the years, so it's well-positioned to offer many
future miles of service.
Time has been kind to this sedan and a freshening up not long ago
has left it looking sharp. It's got a thoroughly factory appearance
from front to back - that's certainly part of its appeal - and its
paint offers a nice shine. As that clean AutoCheck report
proclaims, this Olds has also had the good fortune to have avoided
any notable collisions, so it remains well aligned, sporting
precise body lines, and doors hood and deck lid that open and close
easily. It's a sharp-looking ride, with its geometric headlights
straddling a distinctive split grille that is reminiscent of
earlier GM models and opera windows gracing the rear portion of the
cabin, which is also surrounded by clear glass. On all sides, the
brightwork and trim still look very strong and all badging is
completely intact.
The appealing blue interior has been kept up well - everything
inside the doors looks pretty darned fresh. The bench seating in
front and back is in good shape, with blue velour covers that show
far less wear than you'd rightfully expect sitting over plenty of
padding. Velour was a defining styling cue of the era and it's easy
to see why - this seating is really comfortable. There's a nice
array of comfort and convenience features on board, including
cruise control, a tilt column, power windows and door locks and
power seats, and all of them function as intended. The dash area is
looking very strong, with clear functional gauges and woodgrain
accents that still look surprisingly fresh. The original factory
AM/FM/Cassette stereo still occupies the front and center position
on the dash and stands ready to provide its period-correct audio
options to your outings. The trunk area is downright spacious -
you'll have no shortage of luggage space for weekend
excursions.
This Cutlass is very much ready for service as soon as you get it
home. The original 5.0 liter V8 underneath the hood carries a
4-barrel carb on top and it fires right up with a turn of the key
and runs very smoothly. The alignment and suspension seem to also
be very much on point, as this late '80s classic tracks
impressively straight and offers a nice, smooth ride. The 4-speed
automatic transmission sitting behind the engine is known for its
uncomplaining dependability and offers an overdrive gear to keep
RPMs nice and low at highway speeds. The power steering is light
but responsive and precise, while power brakes that feature discs
up front provide dependable, low effort stops. Greeting the future
in impressively solid shape, this Oldsmobile rolls on a set of 14"
stock Oldsmobile spoked wheels sporting Hankook tires that have
plenty of tread left.
Vintage enough to offer plenty of nostalgic appeal, yet modern
enough to provide the features you'd want in a frequent driver,
this 1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Classic is a well-preserved
representative of its era and stands ready for its next chapter of
faithful service. Call today!
