Cadillac redesigned the Series 62 in 1954 with a new lower, sleeker
look. The new design featured a wrap around windshield, and exhaust
tips that exited through up swept bumper extensions. New found
horsepower was added in 1955, when Cadillac raised the output
rating of the 331 cubic inch V-8 to 250, a twenty horsepower
increase over the 1954 model. Power was transmitted through a
smooth shifting four speed automatic transmission that allowed the
big car to accelerate quickly and cruise at a very low RPM. On the
inside, customers of the day found all the power amenities they
could possibly wish for. Power brakes and power steering were
standard equipment, while this particular example enjoys the extra
cost options like power windows and even neat auto dimming
headlights. This system utilized an "autronic eye" mounted on the
top of the dashboard to monitor for oncoming headlights from other
cars, it would then turn switch on the low beams until the car
passed, and then go back to the high beams. This was really trick
stuff in 1955!!! This Series 62 is a Deville' Coupe two door
hardtop, and is in great overall condition. The body is very
straight, and the color combination is classic 50's America. The
interior shows some patina that would be expected of a vehicle this
old, however it is still supremely comfortable in classic big car
style! If you would like to turn heads while driving a very nice
classic Cadillac, then stop in or email
