When production started in 1979, the Fox platform "Foxbody" Mustang
was an instant hit with Mustang fans. A total about-face from the
Mustang II that preceded it, this generation of Mustang was rapidly
getting back to the classic Mustang roots! In 1983, the Fox Mustang
got its first facelift, and then another in 1987, making this 1984
Mustang GT hatchback a solid example of a short run of cars!
The outside condition of this car is almost astonishing. While it
does have minor paint scratches (like perhaps from a car wash), the
overall exterior condition is enough to take any admirer aback. The
red paint, which very well could be original, but it also may be an
older repaint, is eye-catching and pairs well with the still dark
black plastic and painted moldings. The large GT hood stripe is the
perfect final touch to completing the aggressive look this car
offers. Never fear; those aren't real TRX wheels! They are modern
16" replicas of the original TRXs. The owner is including the
original, real TRX wheels with the sale as well. Overall, the
outside of this Mustang gives off a really nice "well-preserved"
vibe, though it may have undergone a partial restoration at some
point. Additionally, this car has classic SEV Marchal fog lights
installed in the front bumper complete with their covers.
This car has a super clean interior; everything is in unbelievable
condition! The front seats have been recovered in the correct
material, and make a serious impression when you step into the car.
The inside looks almost like a new car! All of the wear items such
as buttons and door handles are in excellent condition, showing
little to no wear. Even the dash pad is in great shape! The radio
has been deleted by the owner, as he did not care for the sound of
anything but the car! The steering wheel fits your hands just
right, and mounted to the title column is a cruise control lever
for those days when you want to take it easy. Before you ask, the
odometer is showing 20k miles. As clean as this car is, it very
well could be original. Unfortunately, it's a 5-digit odometer and
we are unsure if it is actual or not. Whether it's 20k or 220k,
either way, speaks to the quality and the condition of this
car.
Pop open the hood and you'll see the iconic Ford 5.0L V8 that sits
in the engine bay. Everything is clean under the hood and look at
our "Does it work" checklist below, everything from the A/C to the
horn functions as it should. Bolted to the engine is not a boring
auto, but rather the fun 5-speed manual. According to the Marti
Report this vehicle left the factory with 15 factory options which
includes power windows, cruise, titl, a/c, tinted glass, GT
equipment, power locks and more.
This little Mustang runs and drives great. It would be a serious
challenge to find another one this simple and clean for sale right
now! T-tops, 5-speed, everything works, and you couldn't ask for a
more well-kept example of a Foxbody Mustang. It even has a Marti
report and some maintenance receipts! This Mustang has clearly been
cared for, and all it needs is a new caretaker.
