Vehicle Description
This 1965 Impala was purchased new from Earl Hayes Chevrolet in
Dallas, TX, by the first owner, and was inherited in the mid-90s by
the second owner, with whom it stayed until December 2014.
Extensive work done by the third and current owner. It's powered by
a 327ci 8-cylinder engine mated to a 2-speed Powerglide automatic
transmission, and comes equipped with power steering. The car
retains its original trim, engine, glass, wheels and hubcaps; even
the taillights are original to the car. It also retains the
stickers from the original two owners and the original Earl Hayes
dealer emblem. The second owner had some interior upholstery work
done, including new carpet and new headliner. It has been repainted
twice; once in 1998 and once in 2011. The door jams and engine bay
retain their original paint. The air-conditioning system was
converted to R134 and it retains the original compressor. The belt
is currently not installed, so it is not functional. The third and
current owner had the engine pulled and fully rebuilt. While this
engine was originally 250hp, internals that were spec'd for the
300hp version were used. It's equipped with a 268/268 cam and a new
dual exhaust was installed. As much of the original hardware as
possible was retained, including the block, heads, valve covers,
brackets, carburetor, air cleaner, cooling fan and fan shroud. An
aluminum radiator replaced the original, and was painted Flat Black
to match. It features its original power steering pump with new
hoses, new shocks, idler arm, pitman arm and tie rod ends. It also
has new brake hardware all around, including master cylinder, brake
lines and hardware, new drums and new shoes. This Impala has been
garage-kept and well cared for its entire life.
