In today's era of six-figure and seven-figure "collector" cars, the
clean every day classic cars often get overlooked. Which we feel is
a shame, because that's where the enjoyment lies with owning a
classic car - On the open road with the wheel in your hands! This
is why we love cars like this 1969 Chevrolet Camaro. Not only does
it carry with it one of the most iconic Chevrolet designs of all
time, but it also has tasteful upgrades like a 700R4 overdrive
transmission that make it ready for the highway! This example is a
fantastic value that is ready to cruise the streets just like back
in the day!
With any classic car, the part that is usually missing is the
history. These cars changed hands so often that its tough to know
what exactly was done and by who. But, thankfully this Camaro
carries with it a documented proven history. The vehicle was sold
new by Scarborough Chevrolet in Statesville North Carolina. From
there it changed hands only one time in the early 80s to the
current owner. Included in the sale is a copy of the original
title, protect-o-plate, original owner's manual and warranty
info.
Originally leaving the factory as a factory hugger orange vehicle,
it received a repaint along the way and today it sits in our
showroom looking very clean and straight. The white stripes add a
look that really accents the hugger orange and even though the trim
tag shows this car as being an X-44 code, it's hard to argue the
look of the SS badges on the front and rear.
Step inside this Camaro and it feels like 1969! This car will
surely take older enthusiasts back to their younger days, and
realize years of dreaming for younger enthusiasts. The interior is
overall very nice with parts showing some age but minimal wear. An
am/fm/cd radio is installed, powering a pair of Sony speakers that
have been installed in the package tray to ensure maximum cruising
pleasure. While all of the factory gauges are in place, a nice set
of Sunpro gauges showing oil pressure, amperage, and temperature
has been installed under the dash. A clean Sun Super tachometer has
been mounted on the steering column. This mostly original-appearing
interior is sure to make for a comfortable cruiser.
Under the hood is a small block Chevy 350 that runs and sounds
great. This Camaro is a factory V8 car, but the original engine is
no longer present in the car. However it was replaced with a period
correct 1970-1971 350 V8. A top the engine sits a chrome air
cleaner, chrome Chevrolet valve covers, and a matching Chevrolet
logo embossed radiator cap. Additionally, the valve covers are held
in place by a set of slick aftermarket valve cover wingnuts. Upon
closer inspection, you'll see a set of headers that allow the
engine to breathe a little better and a Mallory ignition and
distributor is a much appreciated addition from the old points
distributors.
This Camaro has the right look and is an affordable American icon.
The rally wheels, SS badges, and classic color combination create
the perfect Camaro look. Combine that styling with a healthy small
block Chevy V8 and a modern 700R4 overdrive transmission and This
just might be the affordable little muscle cruiser you've been
searching for!
