Vehicle Description
1929 Ford Model A
A coup - also known as coupe - is a car with a fixed-roof body
style usually with two doors. The term coup was first applied to
horse-drawn carriages for two passengers without rear-facing seats.
The early coup automobile's passenger compartment followed in
general conception the design of horse-drawn coups. The French
variant for this word thus denoted a car with a small passenger
compartment.
This nearly perfect example of the Model A from 1929 with a rumble
seat, is classified a Sport Coupe. Beautifully restored to original
condition, an extremely nice example of early Ford
manufacturing.
Exterior
Taking advantage of a frame off restoration in the 1980's, this car
presents as if it was just finished. Painted in a gorgeous color
combination of green with black fenders with saw blade edging and
straw colored spoke wheels, this A is as nice as you will find
anywhere. Body panels are nice and straight, chrome is very nice,
and brite work is beautiful. A tan canvas top appears new and has
body matching landau bars with a touch of chrome on either side.
Dark brown zipper sleeves, and edge stitching add to the contrast
of the top as well. A zippered rear window is opened and closed, so
when there are passengers gets in the rumble seat, the people in
the passenger compartment can talk to each other...all be it
loudly! Speaking of the rumble seat it is done in a beautiful brown
texture vinyl and appears to have never been used. In the rear is
also a matching canvas tire cover flanked by 2 small curved
bumpers.
Interior
The interior appears new with a brown Lebaron Bonney interior. A
bench seat resides in front of a matching body color dash and has
the iconic Chrome Ford "Mask" shaped instrument panel in the
center. Mohair on door panels, stainless long shaft shifter, and
perfectly restored steering wheel make up the remainder of this
simple yet functional interior. A hinged front windshield can be
opened to allow air to flow freely through the passenger
compartment.
Drivetrain
An original restored engine in a straight 4-cylinder configuration
is seen under the hood cowlings. This sits in a pristine engine bay
and has also been fully restored. A manual transmission is attached
to the back of the engine. This car starts right up, drives
smoothly, and runs great.
Undercarriage
Much time has been spent here as well, as it appears it was never
outside, or on any roads that did not present themselves as paved.
No rust, no drips, no errors.
This 1929 Model A Sport Coupe has spent nearly all its life in
California. A frame off restoration was performed in the late 80's
and it appears as if it was just completed. A good luster is
retained on all exterior surfaces, and the canvas top is nearly
showroom condition. You will look long and hard to find another
Sport Coupe anywhere near this condition.
