Of all the motorcycles Harley produced for the military, the Harley-Davidson WLA was by far the most common – though that doesn’t mean it’s easy to find nowadays. Based on the WL (W – a model line of bikes, L – high compression, A – Army), this bike helped create a dramatic rise in Harley’s popularity as surplus bikes were sold to civilians, many of whom were servicemen that had come back from the war and wanted a bike like the ones he rode or saw during wartime.
This WLA’s overall condition is fantastic / museum quality. It runs and drives as it did in the 40s! It is 90% original but shows extremely well. This bike still retains the factory 6-volt system, and it fires up easily. All of the lights/blackout lights work excellent. The military paint has no blemishes to be found. The 750cc / 45ci V-Twin “Liberator” flathead has been professionally rebuilt and runs excellent. Please take a moment to view our video.
The leather saddlebags are custom made in Europe with a correct pebble grain texture. They are new. There is a Thompson Machine gun mount up front. The electrical wiring for the bike is brand new OE spec styled and shows excellent. It sports US made Bars / US Exhaust / US Oil Lines.
This is a museum quality WLA that you can drive to events with ease. It does not need anything to enjoy. It runs excellent!
